I stole this idea from many others, but most memorably [livejournal.com profile] vom_marlowe (from who I quoted these guidelines). This is how it works:

You post –anonymously- a kink request that you’ve always wanted to see. Something you really want but don’t necessarily want to admit to.

Random people come by, read the request, and write a ficlet to order. And post it as a reply to the comment, also anonymously.

Multiple replies (ficlets) to requests are welcome, nay! Encouraged. Also, requesters do not have to say thank you and readers who enjoy the ficlets do not have to provide feedback, but it’s always loved.

~More info~ )

I think that covers everything. So! Go forth and kink!

Rafa won in Rome today, making it his 15th Masters 1000 series win, which is the biggest title to win outside a slam. Roger has won 14, Agassi holds the record at 17. I think beating Roger in this meant an awful lot to him. It's been some while since he celebrated the winning moment with such abandon, maybe not since getting that giant erection after winning the Australian Open.

Rafa and Novak during the trophy ceremony )

Roger lost in the semis, but at least he got to them, which is what he said his goal was. He pretty much blew it during the match with Novak though, so it was not a great performance at all. Roger's post match interview, from the Rome Masters website:

Rog is mooking it up at the end of this match against Zverev, double faulting like it's going out of fashion. But, he wins! His first serve percentage has risen to 68% from 34% yesterday. In theory this means he shouldn't crash and burn tomorrow against Djoko.

Zverev has a lot of jewellery on, chunky chain style, and a mullet. He fondled Roger's shoulder at the net. Oh tennis.

I respect and admire whoever's in control of the on-court music. Yesterday when Rafa won they they played: 'you're just too good to be true, can't take my eyes off of you.. '

Now they're playing a house version of 'the greatest love of all' while Roger throws his wristbands into the crowd. Lol.

eta: here's a half decent Rafa stream.

Rafael Nadal played amazing tennis yesterday in the finals of the Indian Wells tournament, crushing Mandy 61 62. It was brilliant and he looked extremely gorgeous and adorable. Mandy got a bit angry and started shouting, possibly because he will never look as pretty as Rafa.

The day before that, Roger lost to Mandy once more, playing in an unfocused and undisciplined way. It wasn't good and Mandy played solidly and well. I'm full of doubts that, contrary to what Rafa says, Roger is not actually Roger at the moment for whatever reasons, which he won't or can't seem to discuss. Uncle Toni has pertinent things to say about this.

Slash and/or fanfiction gets a strangely garbled mention in the Guardian's guide to pop culture:

"Slash/Fiction

Fantasy online writing in which stars get it on

Imagine C3PO dating R2D2 or what would happen if Amy Winehouse had a fling with Lindsay Lohan.
What to say "Did you know that George Lucas threatens people with legal action if they attempt to write slash/fiction with any Star Wars characters in them?""

Eh what?

In other news, Roger Federer's girlfriend Mirka is pregnant. Their child is going to be sickeningly adorable and pretty, and they both seem thrilled to bits with it. There will be much cuteness. In selfish fan terms it's kind of deflating because BABIES. WOE! Real lives getting in the way of my WsIP! I have to rethink everything. I know fanfiction is by its very nature a way of fixing things so they're how we want them, but still. It makes my reaction to writing Roger/Rafa different in ways that, at the moment, I am not even nearly clear-thinking enough to explain.

I'm feeling guilty about my reactions.

In actual tennis news that's not the fantasy in my head, Roger is ending his six week long break from tennis by playing doubles tonight with international jewel thief Yves Allegro. I think it's on somewhere around 1am UK time, so I'll be hunting for a stream. Vamos Rogelio.

That was a difficult match to watch - turns out Rafa has some sort of knee injury, which got steadily worse throughout the match, until by the third set it was actually dreadful to watch because he could hardly get about the court. Sad. I think he kept playing out of respect for Mandy though-- it being the final-- because it would've pretty much robbed Mandy of the win if he'd retired. 6-3 4-6 6-0 to Mand.

In the awards ceremony Mandy was very sweet and made Rafa smile in a goofy way behind his bunch of flowers. (Youtube of the trophy ceremony) He said:

"Sorry to Rafa, I know he hurt his leg. It shows how good a player he is - he was still managing to beat me on one leg."

'How come I only get this little pie tin?'

Title: Tied up too tight
Fandom: tennis rps
Pairing: Rafa/Roger
Warnings: explicit m/m, not worksafe
Notes: this fic really came about because of [livejournal.com profile] buckle_berry, who was very inspiring about how Rafa should have his hands tied behind his back. All right, and I really wanted to write some porn to help blot out the remaining tennis-angst. I think it helped. Thanks also to Berry for the beta. Feedback and comments are loved a lot.

Rafael Nadal is only the fourth man to win major singles titles on three different surfaces, after Jimmy Connnors, Mats Wilander and Andre Agassi.

Unlike those people, who did it over a number of years, he's actually the first ever man to win major singles titles on three different surfaces in one year. Like [livejournal.com profile] eleclya_m, I shuffled over to wikipedia to check this out and as far as I can tell it's true. No other man has ever done this, not even Rod Laver, because he won his grand slams on two surfaces. Rafa is a phenomena. non.

But, not only is he quite good at tennis, here's a man who also finds time to organise his commemorative stuffed wombats into his trophies during high pressure moments.

Oh and while I'm here posting about tennis related geekery, here's a really fascinating breakdown of the 2009 AO final. It uses a system to calculate effectiveness of play called the 'aggressive margin', but added to this is a breakdown of each time Roger and Rafa played a shot in order to force the other into error.

Oh, and. Toni Nadal cried at that ceremony. Twice. Once when Roger did and once afterwards, when reports asked him about it.

Snow! Snow! It is the end times! All public transport in the south of England has ceased under the burden of five centimetres of cursed snow!

Not that I am complaining. It's pretty and I get to stay at home and work.

I watched the second episode of Being Human last night - it's still not completely lame and I'm enjoying it a lot. Catch it if you can.

I'm still not over the tennis dramas of yesterday, not really. It keeps ringing around my head and I keep thinking about Roger - there is a person with so many expectations heaped on him, so many that I feel like his life is all bent out of shape from the vast pressure of them. Part of the joy of watching someone achieve at the highest level is that they are making a rare and almost impossible dream come true for themselves and for everyone watching. Watching them fail to do that is-- well, it is heartbreaking.

I wish I could stop thinking about this. I don't know why I care so much, but I do. It's only tennis, right?

Rafa won his first hard court major title. Roger lost his attempt to match Pete Sampras's record of 14 majors titles. I'm so emotionally conflicted. Happy for Rafa, really fucking sad for Roger. I'm so glad I got see them play such amazing tennis.

There were tears. Lots of tears. Roger cried a lot. I read just now that Rafa was crying too. Mirka was crying. On the podium, Rafa collected his trophy and went straight back to hug Roger, who was still crying.

One of the first words of his acceptance speech was 'sorry'. Then he went on to tell Roger that he knew exactly how Roger was feeling and that Roger was a great champion. I think this just made Roger cry even harder. You know how, when someone is being so nice, it just makes it all the harder to stop? In a way, I think it's good that he just let all that emotion out right afterwards, even if it was painful to see.

I love them.

So. Roger and Rafa are through to the final of the Australian Open. This is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

Roger beat Andy Roddick. His on-court interview is here, where Jim Courier flirts and generally shows off his huge mancrush.

Rafa played a five hours long match (the longest ever in the history of this slam) with his friend Fernando Verdasco today, and in the last game I saw his expression turn into something so strange and vulnerable; it really puzzled me. Then, in his press conference afterwards he said something that explained it:

But today was, yeah, one of these matches you gonna remember long time, no? Well, the emotion was big, because in the last game with the Love‑40 I start to cry. Was too much tension, no?

IT'S TENNIS. We're up to day eleven. There has been a lot of tennis watched and incidentally my 'n' key is sticky so this tennnnnis post is hard to type.

I was going to write stuff about all the tennis I've seen, but instead I have only got the energy to show you pretty men and their tender moments at the net, cuddling and kissing. There is no Mandbot I am afraid, because his circuitry malfunctioned in round four and he had to go for repairs.

Title: Ready for a fall
Characters: Feliciano Lopez/Rafa Nadal (with implied Roger/Rafa too)
Rating: NC 17
Disclaimer: This is all entirely fictional.
Notes: I really wanted to write something about how Rafa might cope with being on tour all the time, and also Feli because Feli is pretty. Couple this with me obsessing over his Roger-love and you have the following story. Probably. Thank you very much to [livejournal.com profile] emungere and [livejournal.com profile] buckle_berry for beta and helpful comments and encouragement. Gratuitous photos: Feli, Feli and Rafa

Summary: Feli has figured something out about Rafa. Rafa and Feli are closer than people think.

Like Feli said when they started, it was just a way of releasing tension. Nothing else. It didn't mean anything. It was just guys together, helping each other out. )

It's the Australian Open for the next two weeks. Drama! Passion! Mandbot! Rogelio's first match is roundabout nowish.

[livejournal.com profile] emungere and I swapped tennis-shaped Christmas presents this year. I sent her a stylish Roger Federer hat and a copy of 'Fantastic Federer' and Wimbledon 08 DVDs.

She sent me a wondrous object beyond belief - my very own lovingly handcrafted Rafa/Roger 2009 calendar! It has fabulous pictures of them displaying their awesome sportivity! And funny things written by [livejournal.com profile] emungere underneath, and all the dates of the slams and Rafa and Roger's birthdays entered into it. It's the best calendar I ever had.

Roger lost to the Mandbot AGAIN. This is becoming a Thing. It's a thing where he wins a set and then gets spooked and crumbles and then Mandy crushes him. Mandy played really well today, and Roger really did not. He threw a water bottle over his shoulder at one point - dramatic stuff from Roger.

"It is disappointing to lose after the first set when things were going my way," Federer said. "I just couldn't give the knockout punch. But it is not a big thing."

"Andy is a tough player against me," he added. "I hope when big matches come, I beat him."

So cool and understated, but really he looked so fucked off with himself.

I read an anecdote in one of Roger's biographies ('Fantastic Federer' for the interested or those planning to stage an intervention) about the time he lost a match and got so angry with himself he cried and hid under the umpire's chair and wouldn't come out (although he was 10, not 27). Although I didn't see the final set, I'm guessing his inner child was back under the umpire's chair today.

That is, actually, a tennis ball.

More Roger trufax: [livejournal.com profile] wedjatye finally snapped and asked me why I call him Rogelio - it's not even horrible fanon, it's Rafa's canon nickname for him, as reported in this article: Read more... )

Oh Rafa, how so adorable?

lolarious Rafa pic )

He only won the runner's up prize too, and he looks so overjoyed. Mandy Murray beat him today, *and* beat Rogelio the day before.

Mandy is beginning to terrify me. Why do his socks always look so dingy? Why can he not apparently be beaten anymore? Is he a Mandbot?

We need answers. Now.

Feliciano Lopez, aka the man with the most indecent shorts in tennis, has done the world a massive favour this Christmas and posed for some glamour shots for a Spanish gay magazine, and omg he is hot. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] best_of_five for the heads up!

Photos and the interview are here, on Shangay.com, with such gems as 'what sort of underwear do you prefer? Although it's all in Spanish and I can't read it too well. I think it's briefs. Also, I think he waxed his torso. And they put him in eyeliner.
