Cupidity chapter 23

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] emungere has an important poll: Youkai hakkai v Koumyou - who would win?

It deals with other burning topics of the day like Hakkai the singing nun and, if Eli and I were going to do this so far theoretical 12 days of porn idea that we have, what should we write? Plz fill in and let us know.

I think we just finished our book tonight. Total word count is about 63k, from 1 November to 4 December. Chapters 22-27 need editing. But, we has done it, by jove. I feel quite dazed. And very very pleased!

I sat in Coffee Republic this morning with a pot of tea and an iced cinnamon bun and wrote some of the end of Cupidity. It was good. There were lots of people shunting buggies about and also a small party who I worked out were mother, father, son and son's pregnant girlfriend. When she rushed off to fetch the cocoa shaker, insisting that they all must have cocoa on their hot chocolate, the family swapped looks and laughed but it wasn't unfriendly. It was a nice morning. Finishing this story is making me half sad and half relieved. It's been hard, but it hasn't felt bad or impossible at any point. I think that is because [livejournal.com profile] emungere is kind of awesome.

After the writing I went into Marks and Spencers and found black jeans that fit me! I came home and washed the kitchen floor and hoovered downstairs too. I did two loads of laundry. I'm planning to cook a nut roast in a while. Fear me!

Not sure where all the energy and the shopping-fu has come from all of a sudden, but I am happy about it. Also, I has a bagel with marmite.

I found this quote recently somewhere. It made me think about writing a story, when you pick the wrong way to go. You always know you have, I think, deep down.

Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself, and yourself alone, one question. This question is one that only a very old man asks. My benefactor told me about it once when I was young, but my blood was too vigorous for me to understand it then. Now I do understand it. I will tell you what it is: Does this path have a heart? All paths are the same: they lead nowhere. They are paths going through the bush, or into the bush. In my own life I could say I have traversed long, long paths, but I am not anywhere. My benefactor's question has meaning now. Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn't,the path is of no use. Both paths lead nowhere; but one has a heart, the other doesn't. One makes for a joyful journey; as long as you follow it, you are one with it. The other will make you curse your life. One makes you strong; the other weakens you.

Hoorah! Chapter thirteen of Cupidity is up and running.

Previous chapters here.

Word count as of right now = 44, 027.

We took a day off yesterday to cogitate on plot and refine a few dodgy areas. Thanks so much for the comments, folks. I just haven't got time to reply to everyone as I'd like, but it's so encouraging to get all your thoughts on the characters and the plot and I love reading them.

Oops, I actually forgot to put the link to chapter eight last night.

Wordcount as of this morning, 33, 303. Plot is happening in my head, the hard part is making it come out in words that don't sound horribly lame. Ackk. I need more tea.

There is moar! Chapter four is up at [livejournal.com profile] curious_spells

Author notes
Chapter one
Chapter two
Chapter three

So far we've written about 17,500 words, so we can post a chapter a day and edit like crazy things. This might slow down as Plot Happens, I am guessing.

Randomly, I am reading A Midsummer Night's Dream and really enjoying the fact that Titania and Oberon are bickering and sniping at each other like the old married couple they are. I also keep reading lines that I am quite sure were once some filthy double entendre and having no idea what the joke is, but still sort of enjoying recognising it anyway.

For anyone who missed the memo yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] emungere and I have a new joint writing comm called [livejournal.com profile] curious_spells. Do feel free to friend or join at will.

Chapter two of Cupidity (demented, porn filled cracktastic saiyuki au where Gojyo is Hakkai's boytoy) is up here - as ever, all comments are hugely appreciated

Chapter one and author's notes are here

[livejournal.com profile] emungere calls it nano-inspired, which I think is probably wise and a good get out clause if we can't make it to 50k. We did have a slight long dark teatime of the soul today over whether to include zombies as a means for more and better plot but sanity prevailed. I think.

[livejournal.com profile] curious_spells is the new community for mine and [livejournal.com profile] emungere joint writings. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] emungere for the gorgeous layout.

The very first entry is the first chapter of our joint Nano for this year. It's called Cupidity and it's sort of a demented, porn filled cracktastic saiyuki au where Gojyo is Hakkai's unruly boytoy. Because we are srs artists!

Cupidity - chapter one - all feedback is loved and cherished.

The the subsequent chapters should go up soon - we're aiming for one a day, and we've written about 12k already.

I'll be posting links up here as we go, but do feel free to join the community as I'm sure we'll be posting various things there in future.
