So I have been trawling through lots of fanart recently. Here's a vast, sprawling collection of things I liked, mostly Saiyuki.

Samurai Champloo
Champloo - I really liked the mood of this, and the way Fuu is under the tree looking happy. It makes me think of Quentin Blake, if he ever drew samurai (maybe he did, I don't know).
Mugen's bad dream - looks quite fun to me.

Kappa doth protest too much - the urasai you never saw.
How are you feeling today?- Sanzo's wide range of moods
How are you feeling today 2? - and Hakkai's various moods.
Gojyo - awwwww.
Gojyo and Hakkai - looking really extremely gay. Love the giant sunglasses, Hakkai.
Once upon a.. December? - Hakkai, but with a tiny winged chibi Hakkai attached!
Goku with tiny Sanzo onna tray - no idea, but tiny Sanzo is very cute.
Youkai Hakkai molesting Gojyo - yay! nws.
Gojyo's sock fetish
Hakkai and his Gojyo doll - let's just hope he washes it.
Gojyo - hanging onto girl sanzo a girl - so very pretty and rilly not work safe.
Gojyo on the cover of Salty Dog 3 - a really nice colouring job done on it.
Gojyo and Hakkai - done kind of in the style of xxxHolic. Shame the lines are jaggedy, but it's still pretty despite that.
Goku and Seiten Tasei
Gojyo onna leash - cracktastic and hot.
He was a good boy they say - Stylised youkai Hakkai in black and white.
Conversationally pwned - Hakkai being blunt.

Saiyuki gaiden
Solider of fortune - Tenpou in the rain - is gorgeous.
Tenpou looking sultry in falling petals.
Tenpou and Kenren - being adorable together.
Tenpou - I like the lush style.
Kenren in Tenpou's glasses - more for the concept than the art, to be honest.

That is all.

Fanart: Jin in a wooly bobble hat. Too cute for words.

A funny rant on the wonders of Samurai Champloo fanfic cliches.

Tokyopop are releasing the manga of which there are two volumes so far (I think) in November, so yay.

Some enjoyable SC fics:
Possibilities by [livejournal.com profile] w175n57. Gen. Brilliant. Devastating in a quiet way. Spoilers for end of series.

Two Manners by [livejournal.com profile] keraha. Jin/Mugen, R. The writer says this is bad, but I think it's very good. Jin's POV and suitably weird and closed off. Jin and Mugen are just such-- guys in this.

Pursuit of Happiness by Halrloprillalar, gen. Sweet, funny and Fuu is done brilliantly.

Rolling the Dice by Magpie, gen. Also spoilers for end of series.

Two Sides of a Coin by [livejournal.com profile] trinityhelix, Jin/Mugen, NC-17. I enjoyed this, although in parts it felt slightly disjointed.

Bruised by [livejournal.com profile] emungere. Jin/Mugen, NC-17. Intense, very sensual- sex as part power struggle, part lust with hints of deeper emotions too.

Wait in Vain by [livejournal.com profile] arafel, Jin/Shino. Shino waits for Jin to come back for her. Romantic, not at all sappy.

I had a great weekend and visit from [livejournal.com profile] daegaer and [livejournal.com profile] toscas_kiss. On Saturday we picked up some romance novels (don't ask) from a jumble sale-- it's hard to comprehend that people can still willingly write dialogue like 'You treacherous little vixen!' but they do. Or, 'kiss me before I die of loving you.' *heaves* OR 'When the teacup began to sway they simply smiled and attributed it to the magic of their love.' Their love is teacup-shaking! And:

'She met him thrust for hungry thrust, soaring through the primeval jungle of desire that took them to the beginning of time and slung them back into the future.'

Anyway, moving somewhat dizzily on, I have much love for xxxHolic by CLAMP. Okay, I'm going to change my stance on CLAMP art yet again because I love the art in this. The story is very cute, reminiscent of Legal Drug but with a much better plot so far. The black and white, tone free art is very pretty.

I finally watched episodes 18-26 of Samurai Champloo. For the first few I was wondering where the plot had gone and what had happened to the art, but then the last three turned out to be very good indeed and big spoilers for the ending )

Samurai Champloo fans, there's a good doujinshi over on [livejournal.com profile] yaoi_daily, parts 1 and 2 and another part to come. Heh. As it were.

Many aeons ago, [livejournal.com profile] jamjar wished for Samurai Champloo crossed over with Saiyuki, theme: tea and sympathy. It began as a drabble but turned into 950 words - would that be a nonadrabble and half, then?

Title: The White Dragon Tea House
Rating: G
Notes: This only has one Saiyuki character in it, but I thought I was doing well getting these two worlds together at all. There is tea (implied) and sympathy (explicit).

Two more easter ficlets:

[livejournal.com profile] jamjar asked for Samurai Champloo and only one blanket

Cold Comfort )

[livejournal.com profile] daegaer asked for Goku and Aziraphale and creamcakes.

Sweetness )
