I've posted half my cards and the others should go out today, when I find my stamps. Yo, [livejournal.com profile] kanzenhanzai! I got my card with the naked Roger and Rafa inside! It was awesome, thank you. [livejournal.com profile] puddingcat, [livejournal.com profile] kispexi2 and [livejournal.com profile] moshesque, I got yours too, thank you! There were no hot naked men inside, but I can forgive you for that. This time.

Other news: short review of Bentley Little's 'The Walking': IT'S SHOW NOT TELL, BENTLEY. Why is the horror genre so disappointing? It makes me sad. Also, he is called Bentley and that really set up my expectations. This book had some intriguing blurb on it, and then I read it, and... not so great. There was a good central idea, spooky, but everything else was flat.

I peevishly abandoned it on the train, swapping it for a book that was lying on an empty seat. Perhaps left by some other similarly cheesed-off reader? The book was called 'Of Merchants and Heroes' by Paul Walters, a historical novel set in the third century BC and it's about a rather unhappy fellow called Marcus. The style reminds me a lot of Renault, but that's no bad thing for me.

There's a new challenge up on [livejournal.com profile] saiyuki_time. I really want to try and write something for it this week.

I miss tennis. A lot. Just fyi.

Health news: cut for boring )

[livejournal.com profile] moshesque is hosting a Saiyuki friending meme, which I think is a really cool idea, here.

In other news, thank you for my card and tea, [livejournal.com profile] cicer. They're lovely. Also, [livejournal.com profile] daegaer, I got your parcel, thank you. Yay a huge amount of vintage melamine! I squee! The plates are very cool. I am also lucky because [livejournal.com profile] emungere sent me home made cookies and an inspirational book about the Japanese sex industry. Apparently you can have sex in a tub of green gel if you want, for a reasonable fee. And I have glow sticks and glittery eyeshadow. I got your card too, [livejournal.com profile] flerrochard, and thank you so much for the stealth glitter. Heeee. I missed it this year, so was super excited when it showered all over my toes. :D

In other other news, I have a new laptop. It is small and light (1.7kg), perfect for commuting unlike my other one and only £599, reduced by £300. It's a John Lewis ex-display model, still with a two year warranty and I love it even if Windows Vista is slightly doing my head in.

In yet more consuming news, I have new flat black Mary Jane shoes for £4.97 in the sales, purple tights, brown tights, a grey dress with silver stitching from Monsoon and a grass green silk short smock top also from Monsoon.

Thanks whoever bought me paid account time! I should feel bad about this because of my general pissed-offness at LJ management, but actually it's kind of nice to have more than six icons again and be able to have more pretty layouts. I'm sorry, I'll try to be more principled in future. Thank you again, anon.

[livejournal.com profile] emungere sent me ginger cookies, guhhh! And 70s rollerskating Gojyo kneesocks, and pink nail polish and choco! And a pink flower unfoldy thinggg that says hi. Thank you! I painted my thumbnail and ate a cookie already. Mmmmm. ♥♥♥♥♥

It's nice being given things, so I'd like to do that pay it forward meme, which goes:

I will send a handmade gift to the first 5 people who comment here. The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making thesame promise on your blog...

Note: handmade gift means anything which I use my hands to make. And that could mean writing, or a (probably) really bad drawing, or... something else! You can try and specify and I can try and obey but I might not.
