I've posted half my cards and the others should go out today, when I find my stamps. Yo, [livejournal.com profile] kanzenhanzai! I got my card with the naked Roger and Rafa inside! It was awesome, thank you. [livejournal.com profile] puddingcat, [livejournal.com profile] kispexi2 and [livejournal.com profile] moshesque, I got yours too, thank you! There were no hot naked men inside, but I can forgive you for that. This time.

Other news: short review of Bentley Little's 'The Walking': IT'S SHOW NOT TELL, BENTLEY. Why is the horror genre so disappointing? It makes me sad. Also, he is called Bentley and that really set up my expectations. This book had some intriguing blurb on it, and then I read it, and... not so great. There was a good central idea, spooky, but everything else was flat.

I peevishly abandoned it on the train, swapping it for a book that was lying on an empty seat. Perhaps left by some other similarly cheesed-off reader? The book was called 'Of Merchants and Heroes' by Paul Walters, a historical novel set in the third century BC and it's about a rather unhappy fellow called Marcus. The style reminds me a lot of Renault, but that's no bad thing for me.

There's a new challenge up on [livejournal.com profile] saiyuki_time. I really want to try and write something for it this week.

I miss tennis. A lot. Just fyi.

Exercise

Mission accomplished: I won an exercise bike on ebay, for a grand total of £2.70. I'm going to pick it up this afternoon - it's only in Caversham. The owner calls it well used, but it looks fine in the photo. It has a little onboard computer that measures things and it has adjutable resistance. Also, £2.70. I can always invest in a better one if I enjoy it

I think I'm going to copy [livejournal.com profile] telophase and cycle from Bag End to Rivendell - 458 miles. I think this might take me a while.

Eta: got the bike. It's fine. A random Polish man helped me take it down our steps into the house when he saw I was struggling.

Arm update

I bought a new computer chair this afternoon, from Staples, centre of the universe. It has many levers that make it incredibly adjustable and here I am typing with almost no discomfort at all - an amazing difference from my old chair. Just sitting in my old chair this morning made my arm start to tingle and ache. My typing posture now would have ergonomists everywhere licking me in spasms of delight, I think. The chair goes by the charming name of 'Leather Faced Operators Chair'.

Physio tomorrow, for more poking and manipulating. I went to the osteopath on Friday and she told me I have double crush! Which means the median nerve in my right arm is pinched not only at the wrist, giving me truly horrible random tingling in my thumb and forearm, but it is being pinched in my neck too. That is alongside the tennis elbow. I have moved my mouse to the left side, I have been given exercises, I have to swim but only with a float, most importantly I have to cut back on time spent writing. Big sigh.

Teeth

My teeth are not happy and I am finally going to the dentist today after putting it off for far too long. Oh joy. But at least it will make the niggling pain go away.

Other than that it's a beautiful sunny day. I think I'll sit in the shade and finish Anasi Boys and try not to think about it.
