Mission accomplished: I won an exercise bike on ebay, for a grand total of £2.70. I'm going to pick it up this afternoon - it's only in Caversham. The owner calls it well used, but it looks fine in the photo. It has a little onboard computer that measures things and it has adjutable resistance. Also, £2.70. I can always invest in a better one if I enjoy it

I think I'm going to copy [livejournal.com profile] telophase and cycle from Bag End to Rivendell - 458 miles. I think this might take me a while.

Eta: got the bike. It's fine. A random Polish man helped me take it down our steps into the house when he saw I was struggling.

Watch out for worgs. Hear them howling, my hungry children...

I finished WA just now. Why is it so much sadder in the official translation? Gah. *sniffles*

I shall avoid them at all costs, unless the mad scientist that owns them is particularly appealing.

I don't know why, but it is sadder. Maybe because it's more obvious that they like each other a lot.

Oooooooh, excellent. I love my bike. I can't believe it was only three pounds! I find I bike faster if I watch action anime, lol.

Action anime and Whose Line Is It Anyway? seem to work best for me. :D I've been letting the TiVo pick up as much YuYu Hakusho as possible before I start in watching it while biking. XD Good Eats is OK when biking, but a little slow (especially if I'm hungry).

I will keep that in mind. I plan to do some serious catching up on anime while on the thing. :D

Yay for winning things on ebay and for biking to Rivendell! £2.70 seems a very resonable price to pay.

I entered a Japanese speech competition! And won the special prize for talking about manga!!

A silver Cross pen and pencil set and the Scariest Dictionary in the World! It's all in Japanese, printed vertically and is alarmingly yellow. I was full of fear during my speech (though at least the Vast. Assembled. Crowd. Of. Random. Japanese. People laughed when the title of my speech was announced - "I'm a geek!"), and I have no memory of understanding what Important Businessman-san asked me. He may have asked "Do you like the pictures in manga?" to which I replied in terror, "The pictures in manga are kawaii". And then another judge said "You really are a geek, aren't you?" which got the vast assembled crowd giggling again :-)
