I've been lurking round the yuletide nominations page all afternoon. So far I've picked:

Tennis RPF (Fedal) - man I wish Fedal was a bigger fandom. *Criez*

Melusine - scary! But what the hell. I want to try writing Felix/Mildmay. If not for Yuletide then I have always got [livejournal.com profile] tarteaucitron's hairbrushing prompt to fall back on, by which I mean actually write.

The Bone Key - I love Monette's creepy museum, which seems a character all but itself-- except I've forgotten what it's called-- and also Kyle Murchison Booth.

Merlin RPF - is this still a small obscure fandom? I kind of have a hankering to write it.

Others-- um, I just don't know which other two obscure fandoms to pick. I don't really want to write Mary Renault, which I did do one year. Sherlock Holmes is kind of tempting. Hmm hmm. I just don't know!

Melusine~! *flail*

...not that I could see myself writing (famous last words HAR), but would love to read some good fic! (After I finish Corambis, anyway.)

Is that a rare fandoms Yuletide? It's awesome that Tennis RPF makes into that, even! It really is such a small fandom. I wish there were more writers. [livejournal.com profile] aramley's recent epic Fedal made me jealous of fandoms where that kind of epictude happens every week or so!

Meanwhile, I'm being seduced by Merlin, which is not an obscure fandom, but Merlin RPF is and if you write some I insist on reading it. When I first heard of it, I was like, Merlin RPF, wtf? But then I read some. It's good shit, yo. Do eeet. :)

Hm, I actually don't know how small Merlin RPF is! A good... oh, I dunno, 50%? of the people on my flist have written it, anyway. It is kind of amazing though, and also I want moar Katie/Angel fic for the masses! *g*

Merlin RPF is smaller than I'd like! Though basically every permutation exists except for ones with Richard, haha, which works for me since I'm just a Bradley shipper at heart. There are some awesome Bradley/Colin (http://worldwouldend.livejournal.com/tag/bradley+and/or+colin) and one Bradley/Merlin stories -- would that be your pairing or no? I'd read whatever you wrote!

Once I saw the list I knew picking could only be done impulsively, almost without looking. I mean, there were like 30 fandoms there that needed nominating so hard. I understand that we're choosing what we actually want to request, right? Because no way I can write Hot Fuzz fic, but I would slobber all over it like a basset hound.

Yes yes yes Merlin RPF, fingers crossed it will make it to the final list!

Omg, I hope there's Melusine fic. I just finished reading it last night. :)

I'm jump head first to Merlin in the last two weeks.... I would read it if you write it.

Bradley cracks me up...

Melusine~! I can't begin to describe how excited the thought of reading a Melusine fic by you makes me. My hands are all sweaty now, oh gods... *flais*

I've yet to read Corambis, because I want to buy it in paperback, which won't be out till next March. Aah, will it be March soon if I wish really hard? I want to read iiit! The Melusine books have the ability to reduce me to a giggling teen, which is kind of nice. Oh Mildmay!

(Ahem. Sorry about this random flail. ^^' Happy writings!)

Omg I am such a mook. I meant to tell you what I was doing about Merlin! I am buying that mother so no need to download. And we are so on. Let me know what you want to do.

woo hoo!

i think jim has taken that day off to meet a catsitter or something, so shall i come to you? idk, i think your furniture is also in a better configuration for protracted tv watching. i can bring booze and stuff obvs.

if we are exceptionally good and brave, we could also hold off spn 5:7 and watch it together on your laptop!

(i don't know why i didn't use this icon in the first place, as it is completely irrelevant now.)

That would be fab if you came here! I will ready the sitting room. Also, you are v welcome to stay over.

Oh WINCHESTERS. Okay, I will hold off and we can watch it together. Excitement!

What time do you want to come over?

Ahaha, thank you. :D Random flailing about Melusine is always welcome here. But it's a bit of a scary thought writing them though. They are so amazingly written. Gah, I love them so much. *steels self*

Would it poss to get a secondhand hardback Corambis at all? I don't know how often it turns up secondhand, but judging by the impossibility of getting a copy of the Virtue, not very often?

Bradley is really adorable. Did you see that little film he made on the train platform, where he was a total dork and filmed himself?

Oh, yay! What did you think of it? Have you read all four books or just the first one?

I loved Mildmay to little bits, though I really only liked Felix when Mildmay was forced to take care of him. And the writing was so gorgeous. *__*

Ah, I went to buy Virtu the other day, but on Amazon UK they only have it available from private sellers, and they're trying to get me to fork out over £40 for it! So I'm still searching. I really want to read the continuation. :)

i don't know - what do you reckon - factoring in the proven physical impossibility of walking past malmaison without stopping in for a french thingummy or whatever it is. or three.

what time did i come last time? about 1:30, or something? i'm struggling to remember. maybe i can aim so that you will have had lunch and i will have had a sandwich at padd or on the train and we can move right along with the main order of business! what do you say?

\o/

also yes pls, re staying over (if that's okay with you and matt). the catsitter question is as yet unresolved, so i may need to be out from under your feet quite early on sat if jim insists that i meet her as well, but he'll let me know, i'm sure.

Yum, cocktails. I could down several right now. I think it was 1.30 last time, so we could do that again? And I will make sure to have some proper lunch to absorb the booze.

You're always welcome to stay! Matt doesn't mind anything like that, he's very accepting. Thankfully.

Sorry to hear the catsitter saga is ongoing, I hope you don't have to get up at like 8am or anything. :(

any special provisions requests?

I don't think any Finnish second hand book shops carry copies of it, since reading English books is still relatively uncommon here. And getting one online would mean I'd pay about double the price of the paperback and still have to wait for the book for some time. It's sadly just not worth the trouble, considering I'd still buy the paperback eventually.

Anyway, I probably won't even have time to read it before the end of spring. My Japanese studies are really out to kill me this year.

So if you write something post-Corambis, I'm going to despair. :D

Hot Fuzz! I love that film. I too would bassethound over it.

I have a feeling that Merlin is just too big now, from what I've seen. Although I've read literally one fic in the entire fandom. Bah! But Melusine! I so want to write that.

What are you going to pick?

Thanks! :D I would go for Bradley/Colin, for def. Why is it small? It seems strange...

Thanks for the linkies!

I watched the cast commentaries and video diaries. Angel and Katie are so sweet! I get the feeling Angel actually slashes Merlin/Arthur quite hard, because she barely keeps from squeeing over the affection between them. It's so adorable!

Man, I wish Fedal was more popular. Sigh sigh. Aramley's story was so good, it made me wistful for more.

I can't believe Merlin rpf is so small - but it pleases me if it means I can write it for Yuletide.

WRITE IT.

Ahem. :D It's just such a tiny tiny fandom, I long for more fic.

I think I have to refrain from signing up as I'm away 10th to 23rd of December and have no idea if I'll have Internet access there. The window for uploading the finished story is going to be "smaller than usual" so, uh. I don't know what to do! Maybe I shouldn't make my first yuletide this dodgy timing-wise.

Otherwise I think I'd be doing my Cultural Duty and signing up to write for all the Russian-source fandoms (except, of course, War and Peace, ugh), Aeon Flux cartoon and Hellboy, and obvious stuff like Holmes, Gaiman-verse, White Collar etc. But I seriously can't decide what to request, I want far far too many, I'd have to make a list and narrow it down. Nnnngh.
