A short trip to the seaside

Connotations was so much fun. Spending time with like minded people is one of the best pick me ups. I got there late Friday, sat in the bar till even later, then got up at 8 for a run on the beach!
new_kate and
daegaer got up with me and came down to the beach and watched from a safe distance. Running on beaches is my new favourite thing, it was just awesome and, yes, BRACING.
I caught a couple of panels, one on rps, then we braved the rain and went to spend money in the fleshpots of Tynemouth, and eat cake. Saturday night was the moderately tidy dinner, then the vid show that included the truly frightening Shatner 'interpretation' of Rocket Man. We all got up for another run on Sunday, then mostly hung around chatting until it was time to for me and
new_kate to haul ourselves away in the afternoon.
I've been a bit poorly since I got back, with something the doctor suspects is a urinary tract infection. Joy. So I've been drinking lots of water and have also taken a couple of days off work.
Anyway, I have photos:
The Haunted Lido of Tynemouth Beach. You just know ravening slime beasts lurk under the mud in the middle

The 'ironing board' was just literally a board, with no legs. The TV had been trundled over the large melted patch of carpet that was clearly caused by someone placing a hot iron face down on it. Just next to the board is the sofa that eats people.

A lot of this kind of thing went on

This beast was spotted lurking in a second hand shop in Tynemouth. I think it just ate a shop assistant.

Daegaer's feet looking extremely glamorous and well presented!

Beautiful beach - cool and windy and with the kind of bright sun that makes everything shimmer. I adore this place.

Note the dude on the left who is surfing in apparently an inch of water

O hai!

Date: 2008-10-09 04:34 pm (UTC)The beach looks wonderful for a walk (looks chilly though!) Your food pictures are inspiring me to go bake cookies. >_> Mmmmm comfort food.
What the heck is the first pic, is that an ice rink or something else?

As grac mentions, it's a lido - which is basically an outdoor swimming pool. I've no idea why they're called lidos but they used to be very popular. Most of them seem to have closed or been abandoned though, which I think is sad.
