Let us give thanks for our daily spam:

"...has gone to a better Land; all that is left of it for its loved Ones to lament over, is this poor smoldering Ash-heap. Ah, woeful, woeful Ash-heap!

Let us take him up tenderly, reverently, upon the lowly Shovel, and bear him to his long Rest, with the Prayer that when he rises again it will be a Realm where he will have one good square responsible Sex, and have it all to himself, inste..."

Is this actually from someone's writing? It's rather lovely. Also, everyone should have one good square responsible sex a day.

I was curious and went looking, and apparently it's taken from Mark Twain's 'Tale of the Fishwife and Its Sad Fate' in A Tramp Abroad. http://www.library.northwestern.edu/collections/garrett/frivreadings.html (towards the end).

I always seem to get weird bits of people's fiction, even fan fiction. It never makes any sense, the words are jumbled and I can't figure out how I ended up on the receiving end of it.

However, some of the sexual stimulant ads amuse me. I got one the other day imploring me "don't be ashamed of your manhood!" Well, alrighty then. *g*

I seem to have especially good spam filters. That example almost, almost, almost makes me want to read my spam......

.... no, not even that example.

You are lucky to have such good filters. The spam seems to be coming thick and fast recently.

And that phrase is suddenly putting unwanted images in my head...

I wonder what the meaning of the spam that doesn't actually mean anything is. Does it have some kind of malicious purpose, or is it some kind of coded message, perhaps?

Maybe it is a coded message!!

More boringly, it is probably a way of getting round spam filters, if they have a lot of random text it looks more like a normal email I suppose.
