Stripper Gojyo part 2

In an attempt to be more thrusting and dynamic about all our unfinished porn, [livejournal.com profile] emungere has made a poll on her journal about what we should finish first.

And next, more meme!

My favorite story of this year: Ne me quitte pas, which came together after languishing for more than a year. I think I love it most for managing to finish it and also for the idea of what happens to Sanzo's sutra.

My best story this year: Solitary, a Saiyuki prison AU. At least because there's a lot of potential in it and I never did have time to expand on the various elements in it, like Wolf Boy and what happens to the Pedo Priest. It just felt-- really rich and satisfying to write and I hope it came across like that.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Misunderstood. Not many people seemed to read it, or maybe they did but just didn't like it. Making Hakkai and Gojyo fight like that washuge amounts of fun, because they got really nasty. There are such a lot of hurtful things they could say to each other.

Most fun story: to read, or to write? I'm picking to write, and I think that would be Soapland. There is just something about the idea of Hakkai working as a combined human sponge and sex toy that tickles me so much. A lot. Also bringing an unhappy Gojyo into contact with him was even more fun, and having reincarnated Tenpou pick the name Cho Hakkai for himself - maybe that worked or maybe it didn't but I made me scrunch up in pleasure.

Most sexy story: This is so hard to judge, so I love the idea of you telling me rather than the other way round, so I am stealing this poll idea from [livejournal.com profile] flambeau

[Poll #902270]

Story with single sexiest moment: For me, Bad Mr Cho: "He has punished Gojyo before now for cursing, punished him hard, overthe desk, papers slipping everywhere and Mr Cho's palm wrapped over his mouth in case Gojyo cried out."

Hardest story to write: Adrift, the Ono/Tachibana/Chikage threesome. Firstly struggling to get their characters right, then getting them to have a threesome. Or, rather, getting Tachibana to actually agree to it. My tactic was to have Tachibana never explicitly think about what he was doing: he was just being pulled along, letting it happen, because if he thought about it too closely, or at all, he would stop.

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story: I don't know! Nothing seems wrong at the time. Except Bad Mr Cho.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Ne me quitte pas - how Gojyo and Hakkai need each other and how much of a reflection of each other they are. That idea was integral to the story and I have [livejournal.com profile] new_kate to thank for putting me on that track.

Biggest disappointment: that I wasn't able to sort out the Janitor Hakkai story. Or that I had learnt to come up with halfway decent and interesting metaphors.

Biggest surprise: that stripper!Gojyo was so popular.

Most unintentionally telling story: Ahahaha. I think I leave this one to you again, don't I?

Cannot pick the sexiest story. There are too many great options. I adored Soapland and Copper Red, but I loved all the AUs too, from Stripper!Gojyo to Batman/Saiyuki to Bad Mr. Cho. Oh, how I loved Bad Mr. Cho. I would dearly love to read what you and [livejournal.com profile] emungere have done with the expanded story, so I hope you intend to put that up someday?

I can't pick the Most Telling Story either, though I really liked all your Antique Bakery stuff because it was so intense and subtly revealing about the characters.

Mmmm, bad Mr Cho. We definitely want to finish it although I think it might turn out to be rather long, because he is addictive.

As for most telling, I wasn't sure if that was supposed to mean most telling about the author or most telling about the characters, so I ducked out of answering altogether. And thank you very much. *g*

Wow...that's quite a lot of fic, I didn't realise there was so much. Ack, was trying to be coherent but scrolling down the list brought back so many good memories and scenes that my brain gave up in disgust and ran away.

Hmm. I do love your Gojyo-voice, especially in the AUs, where it comes across even more strongly because it's not Gojyo Gojyo, but it IS Gojyo. And your drabbles! So revealing with so few words. I have a special fondness for Charades.

Ah, you probably get this all the time, but I love everything you write anyway. ^_^ (Misunderstood was painful though. Hurts in a good way I guess, but hurts.)

No, I love to hear it!! Really. Seriously. Thank you. *g*

I'm really glad you like my Gojyo. He's a great character to write, because I get the sense that deep down he just feels everything so much and it's so good to try and bring that out.

A lovely lovely list..is in memories for ease of re-reads. As to the sexiest...I don't know Soapland and Copper Red are neck and neck. ALthough for some strange reason Solitary had it moments that were very reminscent of Kubota/Tokito sort of tone to it but upside down if you get what I'm trying to say. (I'm not even sure I know what I mean)

Of course my pesonal favourite is Ne Quitte Pas.

Have not read the batman ones and will get to them soon enough. I read a batman/saiyuki over on MediaMiner once a long time ago. SO it will be interesting to see it.

Also I love your antique bakery ones.

Oh and Bad Mr Cho...*grins lasciviously*

-runs off to read Misunderstood and will tell you later...^_~

Aw, thanks :-) I think I know what you mean about Solitary - like Tokitoh is the one who kind of rescues Kubota... Hey, and that'd be an interesting au, possibly.

Batsmut = Incoherency...

and...just to let you know I have in laws coming over from Manchester and I was supposed to be cleaning the house so my hubby's mum will think nice thoughts of me that I AM looking after her son, furriner that I am! Heheh .....

Breathe zan breathe....OMG that was such an awesome piece of writing. There were so many things I could have sadi about it, picked every line out. Gojyo hurt, Hakkai angst, Goku being GOku and precious, precious Sanzo. There was nothing wrong about anything at all. Everything was perfect. Gorgeous and it is all LOVE. OMG

is *DED* from Gorgeousness overload.

And that just made it harder to choose! aaarghh!

It's okay - just tell your mother-in-law that you were reading gay porn on the internet! I am sure she'll understand.

Also, thank you! So glad you enjoyed the Batsmut and your comments are so appreciated! It's nice to look back on the fic and remember the pleasure of writing it.

And another thing! I don't think I realised you lived in the UK now - I had it in my head that you were about three continongs away from me. That is cool :)

From: [identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com
Oh I better clarify...I do live at least 3 continents away. My in-laws as with hubby is from Gee Cross, Hyde way up in Cheshire...I did my 'O's and 'A' levels in Reading, well just outside of it, and then went to Uni in Huddersfield, which is where I met hubby. All in all I spent 10 years in the UK.

Singapore is home for us now...I couldn't deal with the cold, furriner that I am and I missed the food too much. Hubby I guess missed me too much and came and fell in love with the food and the weather here and has no ideas to return to UK unless for visits. So if you're ever this way do drop us a line and I am sure I can put you up and play tourist giude. Seriously!!! Ok?

As a point of interest Ste and I met in the uni Medieval Society. It was a legal and insured excuse to beat the living daylightout of each other with big sticks and metal weapons. ^___^ If I recall correctly your faourite area of history is a little later. English Civil War perhaps? ANyway I am digressing...

I am sure I had put in a review for Misunderstood...hmm maybe not?

Oh I see. Hey, I live in Reading now. Small world, and I will definitely drop you a line if/when I'm lucky enough to be in Singapore!

Yay for hitting each other with big sticks, in a fully insured way. I've never really participated in that type of thing, although it sounds fascinating.

So much wonderful fiction. I adored your Batsmut. I've recced that one to anyone I can think of. I've been tempted to rec it to people who haven't even heard of Saiyuki, even though it would lose some of its brilliance. Solitary was wonderful. I'd love to read more of that and I just looked at the comments and found that you originally planned more, so I can hope. Ne Me Quitte Pas felt like a journey - a richly rewarding one.

I did read Misunderstood. I'm sure lots of people did (because I know lots of people will read anything you write). I didn't comment at the time because it is the only story of yours I haven't enjoyed reading. It was too close to the bone for me - I know what it is like to be spoken to in that way and I couldn't bear the thought of Hakkai talking to Gojyo like that. It surprises me that you say it was huge amounts of fun to write. I write angst and nastiness at times but it usually feels more like a purge to me. I don't find it fun to write, so I'm curious as to why it was fun for you.

I thought you might like to know why at least one of your readers didn't comment on that story. That's something that a writer doesn't usually get to find out. I thought then, and still think now, that it was very much my own issues that prevented me from enjoying the story. Objectively I can appreciate it as well written. Emotionally, though, reading it was too fingernails-down-the-blackboard for me.

I am filled with glee at the thought there is so much more you've written that will (hopefully) see the light of day soon. I'll look forward to that.

I am so incredibly pleased to find out what you felt, and also a little ashamed that I described how I felt writing Misunderstood - calling it fun was fairly meaningless of me. I'll try to explain better: it wasn't fun as in hilarity and giggles, but more like really satisfying creative playing about with the characters. It was painful and cathartic, as you say, but at the same time I know I enjoyed it on a visceral level and got a lot of excitement from writing it. Is that fun? Meh. Next time I hope I'll choose my words better. :)

I think I am proudest of the three stories you mentioned, because they are long and have plot, which was a new development for me last year. I'm really glad you enjoyed them and in different ways, and it occures to me I should think of a proper title for the Batsmut one day.

Written on the Skin was one of my favourite stories of the year. Vines and tattoos, could it get any better? I like the humour at the beginning that slowly changes to something more intense as Gojyo and Hakkai feel their way to a new understanding.

Also, I love the premise. I’m a sucker for a story which sees one person irrefutably declaring their love before there is any expectation that their feelings are reciprocated. Poor Gojyo!

Solitary was excellent. It’s stuck in my mind, and now I find myself worrying about prison!Gojyo at odd moments. You created a feeling of the mundane misery of prison and Gojyo’s lonliness in particular.

I like all of your stories, but these are the two that I found exceptional.

Thanks so much. :-) Solitary is one of my personal favourites too.

I have to fess up that [livejournal.com profile] emungere is responsible for much of the wonderfulness of Written on the Skin - I wrote the porn middle parts, but the story was mostly her idea.

I'm also a fan of your stories, the problem is only that...Well, they are so good that anything I could say would feel insufficient + I read them before I got into the habit of commenting (one word, shy). Have to go read some of them (once) again, and then if I still have some un-melted braincells left...and on that subject, the sexiest story? (blink)...O_0 you mean I'd have to choose? (how would that ever be possible?)
