[livejournal.com profile] daegaer wrote me tooth fic cos she is wondrous! Sugar and Spite - Saiyuki, Hakkai/Gojyo.

*will not make jokes about tooth fairies*

If anyone else wants to be wondrous, do feel free. :D

In other news, I ditched the original fic I was writing and began again from scratch, and this time it feels much more like something I actually want to write, and there are boats and mysterious ferrymen and sex. Now I have 17 days.

I finished Anasi Boys. I was vaguely let down by the end two chapters and I'm not sure why - in parts they seemed a bit slow. But in the main I loved the light tone that ran through it. It looks easy to do, but I think is very hard to get right. My new bid to read more is going well. I've begun Misfortune, by Wesley Stace, the touching and demented tale of a boy brought up as a girl in the 18thC. The prose is very dense and vivid and I can see this is going to take me a while to get through.

Till what? Is it for a contest?

So would you recommend the book overall, or not? I remember feeling very let down by the end of Captain Corelli's Mandolin to the point where I wanted to throw the book across the room! I wonder if that was the reaction Louis De Bernieres was expecting from his readers? Lol!

I would highly recommmend it! It didn't at all make me want to throw it across the room, it just seemed a little slow towards the end. But generally it's got some really great stuff in it.

The 17 days refers to a deadline I set myself - to finish an original story in time to submit it to Iris Print by the 30 June, for a boy's love anthology.

Ooh, good luck! Boatmen and sex, sounds wet and slippery... I'd love to read it when you have finished. Hmm, could have phrased that better, now I sound like a complete hentai ^^; lol!

Hullo!

I saw this entry and decided to check out Misfortune at the library today.
I just finished it, and I LOVED it!
Here's a book you might be interested in, Wolf Moon by Charles De Lint.
Byebye! Have fun reading!
