Work fretting, some venting

Next Monday's meeting with my research boss bears a sad likeness to an oncoming juggernaut of crushing doom, where I'll get my arse kicked for not having done enough work.  All meetings make me feel like this, though. Perhaps it's just meetings.

It's true, I haven't done quite enough work, although I had Bad Arm for a month. Quite honestly, I've been rather depressed about the whole project all summer. I feel like I'm stuck in the mud and lacking in direction, which is not so good when when I'm paid enough to give myself a direction and go.

But feeling unhappy about it has lead to Putting Off that which should be DONE TODAY. Putting Off leads to anxiety, which leads to worry and increased Putting Off, which leads to me being scared of meetings.

Oh, enormous amounts of bum.

But I'm not worried enough to let it spoil my weekend, which will be spent in delightful Tynemouth, at [livejournal.com profile] connotations. I'm very excited. Very, very. I've even printed out some of my fic to bring, like [livejournal.com profile] toscas_kiss said to.

I'm thinking of bringing some doujinshi too-- Saiyuki and Death Note, some of which I now remember I said I'd scan for [livejournal.com profile] lebateleur, but never actually did. I suck, I'm sorry.

You know, I've been to a couple of cons at this point (Media*West and Arisia) and have never before encountered the practice of printing out one's fic to bring along. I've had discussions with people about fic, and had fic run in fanzines/been recognized for having written fic, but never had printouts passed around and examined, etc. It sounds kind of fun.

Tosca proposed the idea-- it had never occurred to me either, but it's a good one. People bring boxes of zines for reading, so why not their own fic for other people to read, and maybe even discuss with you afterwards.

Wah! I'm so going to connotations too!! Finally have the money and got it all booked. Sorry for being MIA on stuff, I should resurface later today when I have more work done. Stupid work...

I am with you on the feelings of doom and meetings that are just enormous amounts of bum. I am skiving off meetings today and tomorrow on the grounds of having mysterious pains, even though the doctor said it's probably nothing.

I have so much fic printed out that I am entirely embarrassed about bringing it.

I know exactly what you mean about the work stuff. I don'tknow if it's something to do with research but there always seem to be times like that. Hope it picks up soon!

I'm really sorry to be missing connotations. Next year, if there is one, definitely!

Have a great time. :)

It does sound nice to have fics to rifle through. A very interesting idea!

I feel like that about meetings too.

That's great news! I can force you to write more fic. :)

Hee hee! Your picture is in the dictionary next to 'prolific'.

I'm glad the pains aren't life-threatening, btw.

Thanks. :) I just need to get my arse in gear really.

I'm sorry you won't be there, but yay, next year!

I fear my picture may be next to "doesn't know when to shut up"!

The pains are merely annoying, and can only be assuaged by the printing out of fic on my work printer :-)
