Peacemaker Kurogane manga is really good. Brilliant art and a complicated (all right, baffling at some points) story line, finely drawn characters and lots of historical detail.  Oh, and mysterious cat boys. It's a continuation of another series, which makes for a feeling of being plunged in at the deep end.  I had to read both volumes twice to properly understand who was who and what exactly was happening, but I was glad I did. It treads a very careful line between lightheartedness and intense drama, from what I've seen so far.

I'm going to see if I can pick up vol 3 in London on Wednesday, where I shall be attending Pulse 2005 at Earls Court.  No, it's not a lentil convention, but an interiors accessories show.  But yes, Peacemaker Kurogane--I recommend it.

Manga-City is doing scanlations of the first series, and the anime's also based on the first series rather than the second, despite the name.

The first series is also very good, and also makes the second one make a lot more sense. ;)

Ooh, Peacemaker Kurogane is just lovely. The anime is fun, but the manga is brilliant. And there's a gorgeous artbook for the manga--I've uploaded a couple scans from it here (http://photobucket.com/albums/v55/whimsy_chan/miscellaneous%20miscellany/?action=view&current=susumu01a.jpg). It's one of my favorite artbooks (and not just because I damn near had to sell my soul to get it).

I would definitely recommend downloading MangaCity's scanlations of Shinsengumi Imon Peacemaker. Everything will make so much more sense once you've read it.

I will defintely read the first series, because I'm still slightly confused by it all. That's for linking to those scans - prettiness!

Talking about manga/anime. Do you want more KKM? Or another anime which I'm quite addicted to and which I'm also sending to the Irish women on my flist? :P Need to go to post office for [livejournal.com profile] daegaer's package anyway, I could add one for you :)

You got up to episode 8 from KKM? Or was that episode 12? Can't quite remember, have been doing too much sending lately :P

At least 8, but you sent me some more a while ago. I'd need to check at home, but I think it was up to 30 something.

Oh yes, now that you mentioned it :) I completely forgot about that :P Up to episode 32 normally. There are only 7 or 8 more episodes, of which one is being held hostage by Chewie, but at least I can send you up to the end of season 1.
But I'll also send you a whole bunch of Bleach, which starts off a bit... slow perhaps (as in slow to get to like), but once you like, there's no turning back :P At least not for me. Can't wait to come to London and find the manga there hopefully :)
Talking about London, thank you very much for the tips and of course I'll drop you a line when coming, so we can meet up for lunch or tea or dinner or all of the above :D
*hugs*
