Pipped at the post ...
Aug. 10th, 2002 07:14 pm... by an Asperger's Syndrome sufferer this morning. He got in front of me in Southerlands Clearance shop and picked out nearly all of the 2nd hand Star Trek TOS vidoes that had just come in that morning, and there were about 40. I managed to get four. A quid each. Not that I've anything against Asperger's sufferers you understand. It's a fascinating illness that affects many more men than women. In fact there's a theory that all men have a slight form of Asperger's: it's why they're like they are, poor darlings.
I suppose there must be an evolutionary reason for why we can become obsessive. Obviously it would help us solve complex problems: the ability to forget about everything else and just concentrate on one thing for a long time. The many years spent figuring out how an engine works translates into many years trying to make a piece of stone move along the ground smoothly. Well, perhaps.
