Did anyone else infer from the prophecy that the part Dumbledore left out was that Harry had the potential to become the new dark lord, if he killed Voldemort. After all, Voldemort does *mark him as equal*.

The greatest mystery of all, the thing that Voldemort doesn't feel: I assumed that was love. And when Dumbledore says to Harry that because he feels it, it proves that he still a man...

*Still* a man? And Harry replies by saying that he doesn't want to be human anymore. Who do we know in the book that isn't human, and who doesn't feel love? That line set me up for something that never came.

Admittedly I've only read that chapter once, and now my nearest and dearest has taken the book to work with him, but...did I miss something?

*Was that *still a man* referring to Harry or Voldemort? Wish I had the book here

Ack, the prophecy has me all confused. I was a bit let down by it and now I think I'm looking too closely for hidden meanings. I'm still trying to figure out if it was fate that Voldemort would definitely mark the right child as his equal or the very act of attacking Harry that made his into the child in the prophecy. If most of Harry's, um, specialness comes from the power transfer that night... then wouldn't that mean that if Voldemort had attacked Neville instead Neville would be the Boy Who Lived? Or was it really fate and Harry has some specialness that doesn't come from having his mother sacrifice herself for him and Voldemort pass him some powers? Ack, my head hurts. The real question is, does the potterverse have fate?

Anyway, to answer your question I assumed that Dumbledore was referring to Voldemort as the unspoken opposite of being a man. Maybe he brought that up to make sure Harry knew how to stay away from the dark side of the force. That adds credence to your Lord Harry theory.

Yes, it would make sense. My guess is that Dumbledore knew that Harry had used an unforgiveable curse, and wanted to reassure/persuade him that he wasn't going to turn into something like Voldemort.
