Ho hum. I'm reading Neverwhere again, trying to guess who's gay. Haven't guessed yet.

I'm waiting for my official 'you've got the job' letter now, before I offer ny resignation at work. I'm not holding my breath, as this is an academic establishment were talking about here, and what's more, the personnel office scares me. When they sent me an interview letter, it was for a post as 'Lecturer in Cancer Care,' which, you know, I'm most definitely not. Then they lost one of my application forms, which I only discovered in the interview when the interviwers asked me why I was applying for the less experienced post. I know that they've got the references through, so that's all right. I'm feeling a little bit in limbo though, and could do with that letter just so I can get things straight in my head. At the moment I'm all at sixes and sevens. Oh, pass the fanfic.

Hee. You read that in Neil Gaiman's blog too, didn't you? I have to admit, I'm a little stumped. I want it to be the Marquis, because I'm weird like that, but I suspect it's Hunter.

If it's Croup or Vandemar, I'm going to be very, very frightened. ;)

La la la, I can't hear you!

*pokes*

Oh? And why might that be? You're either squicked or inspired, and given that you're the creative genius behind the Hastur and Ligur mpreg fic, well...I'm not buying the squickage. ;)

This is, of course, assuming that the la la la was in reference to Croup and Vandemar. Hee.

I'm sorry I just can't do it. I just can't write the sort of tender sweet romance that Croup and Vandemar need. *beats head with hammers* No really, I can't.

Can't you get any mileage out of 'foxy Mr Croup'?

On second thoughts, pass the hammer when you've finished with it, won't you?

I have a special theory!

Well, my theory is this: it can't be Mr Croup or Mr Vandemar. If one of them were gay, the other one would have to be too, because otherwise it would just be silly. They are so obviously a pair. And Neil did say it was only one character.

It's not going to be Richard, because he seems to think about girls quite a lot.

So, Islington, the Marquis, or Old Bailey. I can't think of anyone else who could be called a major character.

See, Old Bailey doesn't seem like enough of a major character for me to make assumptions about his sexual orientation. Did Neil specify that it was a major character? I don't remember.

I don't think Islington can be gay. The angel is written as an "it," and that brings up the question as to whether something can be hetero- or homosexual even in spite of not having a sex to begin with. This makes my brain hurt.

So, if it's not Hunter (he was talking about male characters...I completely forgot about that), then I think my money's on the Marquis. Yay for him. :D

He did *say* it was a major character, although what that actually means is debatable. I don't really think it's Old Bailey either - he's obviously got a thing for pigeons.

I think we've found a winner in the 2003 'Who's Gay?' sweepstakes! *g*

Ack. I skimmed past this conversation yesterday and I still can't get thoughts of psychotic-gay-angel sex out of my head. soveryverywrong

Anyway I agree that the Marquis is probably the one, although I didn't really notice when I was reading the book. Now I have to go reread Neverwhere while struggling the whole time not to slash Islington. *sigh*

Who do I have to kill to get you to write psychotic-gay-angel sex? Because now I wantsssss it. [/gollum mode]

Look at it this way--at least you're not plagued by thoughts of Croup and Vandemar. Eh? Eh? Because seriously, they scare me. They must never, ever be slashed. Ever. *shudders*

Ah, ick, it's so wrong! Nothing on the Earth could get me to write psychotic-gay-angel sex. Nothing, I tell you! Nothing! Well, you know, unless I got some sort of inspiration... say from a drawing...

*shudder* You're so right about the Croup and Vandemar. Man, Neverwhere is just chock-full of things that Just. Should. Not. Be. Slashed.
