May. 29th, 2003 05:01 pmBBC, you are showing Buffy tonight. Well done. There is now no need for me to come over there and bash you in with a shovel.
The interview went well, I thought, and afterwards we had a lovely time wandering about Birmingham looking at all the new buildings: the Bull Ring has completely transformed into a modern shiny place, literally. One of the new buildings is a sort of mirrored Baba Papa shape, and is very pretty. On part of it is still unfinished, so we could see the layering of fibreglass underneath. It's an enormous thing to build out of that material.
I was nervous, but only before the interview, not in it, even though, surprisingly, one of the interviwers was my old tutor. It's always hard being interviewed by someone you know: I acted as though he didn't know my skills or background at all, as I think that's the best way for everyone involved. Anyway, the job sounds wonderful, and I'm really keen. The only drawback, if I was offered the job, is it being in Brum, as M told me a few days ago that he was very worried about moving and having to start over somewhere new. I understand completely: I've never felt so settled as I do in our flat.
Work is hell: the office move I am organising seems to be taking up unnecessary amounts of my day and everyone wants something they can't have, mostly because there's no money to pay for it. There comes a time when you have to stop explaining why and start telling people that that's just the way things are. And the cooling system has broken down, so we are all basking in a balmy 25C.

I'm tempted to put my name down for another challenge at the SBRL fest, the one about them being mated for life and not wanting it. It might be fun to turn a few other fandom cliches on their heads along the way.
