Two things about today:

Thing one: just bought a new (to us) flat screen Sony Bravia from ebay. I'm still not used to making such grown up purchases, even though I'm of the sort of age where this should not feel like a big deal. Our TV at home decided to go purple and green for a day or so. No one knows why, so it's probably time to get a new (but not that new) one.

Thing two - booked my first ever (official) driving lessons, so another grown up thing happening right on the heels of the previous one. I start in a week. I've gone from being actively afraid of driving to not even wanting to wait a week to start. The brain is an odd thing.

Isn't it an odd feeling to make big, grown up purchases? I remember the time I bought my first laptop. I almost fainted when I saw the price, and it was a very weird experience to fork over so much money all at once. It's really a bit disconcerting!

Yay, driving! Good luck!

It never seems to get any more normal, either. I stood behind a couple buying a couple of thousands of pounds worth of tv equipment in a shop the other day - even the shop assistant seemed all fluttery at so much expenditure.

Thank you for the good luck wishes - think I'll need it. :)

Adult purchases are scary! ... Good luck with the driving dear. *hugs* Yeah I remember the day I signed a check for the downpayment of our little flat. I almost bottled out. *sigh* scary ... and big purchases are still scary.

*more hugs*

Oh, you Europeans. ;-) I've been driving for...omg almost thirty twenty years. (But I still feel weird buying a new TV, lolz.)

Heee! It probably is a big difference, right? It's weird - I just never needed a car so I never learned, and tbh I still don't actually need a car for every day life. I am getting to the point where a car is going to be increasingly useful though (chauferring aging parents around).

If you live in a city you can get away with not driving, but even then a lot of people at least learn to. (Though my grandmother never learned!)

And yeah, I can imagine it'll help there.
