Party and food meme
Mar. 4th, 2010 06:23 pmGah, it's one of those days where I just feel like I'm dropping, breaking, trampling and otherwise ruining everything in the house in a mad rush to get everything done on time. Last week I swallowed the end of a needle - that's okay, right? It was only a tiny short bit.

new_kate and
tarteaucitron came over at the weekend for my birthday party. We lounged around, drank wine, made cakes and watched ice skating and 'The Saint'. They make the most wonderful houseguests, let me add. Come back! Never leave!
I sent out invites labelling my party a 'cake and fizz' one. Good move, because guess what everyone bought me? Yeah! It was a totally rockin' night. I remember some really bad singing towards the end of the night, so I'm very sorry to anyone who had to listen.

I can't bear the thought of eating things like snails, insects and frogs. I would fail at one of those shows where they make people live in the jungle and eat crickets and worms, or whatever.
The British food items that leap out are haggis, a cream tea, brawn, black pudding and... Fruit wine made from something other than grapes. Oh yeah.

Date: 2010-03-04 08:30 pm (UTC)(There's something about an eccentric countryhouse owner on Channel 4 - she's so eccentric it's a bit upsetting, so I turned over to RTE and found crossdressing cuttlefish. Now there is cuttlefish infidelity, with the crossdressing male and his girlfriend canoodling literally under a larger male . . . ETA: OMG, now there's a 4 metre octopus giving her life for her babies, a starfish the size of a dustbin lid that fought with a giant crab that ripped off one of its arms and ran off with it - growbag like a starfish! - and other assorted monsters of the deep. It's wondrously hideous and I feel it may be scarring me for life).
Also, I have eaten snail just to prove I could. They tasted of nothing whatsoever, and looked less than appetising.

Date: 2010-03-04 10:19 pm (UTC)Eeek, life in the briny deep. Feeling so lucky not to be a cuttlefish/octopus/growbag starfish. Their lives suck!
Blech, snails. I'm never going to eat a snail. I do not understand these people who want to be adventurous with food - I don't want any of my food to have ~feelers.

Date: 2010-03-05 05:45 am (UTC)FWIW, frog legs and snake are both delicious—but then, anything that's breaded and fried probably tastes fairly okay, you know?

Date: 2010-03-05 05:17 pm (UTC)Also my son would never ever forgive me if I ate snails, samkes, frogs, ...basically any type of amphibian or reptile. He is slightly enamored with them! Also prior to Darian ... I have never felt the urge to anyways. Just uhmm no.
No horse either. I've had vegetarian haggis up in Scotland. ^_^ That was rather interesting in texture and taste and probably nothing like the real thing.
Great to see you and good to see you're good. *HUGS N LOVE*
