The British National Party has won two seats in the European Parliament. Fucking hell.

I just hope the BNP don't get more of a foothold in the general election. Ugh, it's ugly and frightening.

's funny, I've had you friended for years and I never knew you lived in Reading. I'll be going to Reading sometime this year, and you're the second person I know that I didn't know lived there. Strange.

I heard. That's pretty worrying :(

I sincerely hope that they don't get even more of a toehold in the general election, whenever that's going to be. :(

I haven't been following the news at all, so I am completely ignorant, but ... the UKIP got more seats than labor? what the hell is going on in the UK? O.O

Also, it could be worse, you could have elected George Bush president .... twice .... DDDDX

That's a good point... But still, these developments are just very worrying. Ugh, it's upsetting.

I'm trying to take a little comfort from the fact that their vote went down compared with five years ago.

But it's not really working.

I suppose that's a tiny shred of hope. The weird thing is I guess a Conservative government coming to power might actually stem the tide of people who feel they have to vote for a bunch of intolerant bigoted violent thugs.

That's not exactly a comforting thought though.

Nope, there's absolutely nothing comforting about the idea of a Tory government. Been there, done that. *wants socialism, dammit!*

... and more likely because people spoilt their papers or neglected to vote than anything else. The turnout for elections is so awful these days, especially the Euros. But to think people put an x in that box... It's sickening and annoying and horrible. :(

Worse still, one of them is in Yorkshire. Never felt ashamed of where I live before. Grr.

Yeah, our local polling station said turnout had been very poor indeed, so it looks like a lot of people just didn't bother, and then creeps like Griffin get a toehold. It's really worrying that people can feel so in tune with BNP policies, enough to vote for them.

It does make you seriously want to disown a certain subsection of the populace. It makes me look favourably upon the idea that people should be made to take an intelligence test before they get to vote :-(

The BNP seems to be all about finding someone else to blame for their problems, be they black, gay, feminist, whatever. It's fucking depressing that so many people fall for the rhetoric.

My mind is boggling. How could the British of all people EVER vote fascist? Some people need to be whapped upside the head with a history text

It's horrible. I guess some people don't read history books anymore.
