Throwing it out to all seeing flist
May. 28th, 2009 05:14 pmI'm looking for some fabric that has books on it for a project. Has anyone come across such a thing? Fabric with text on would be good too.
I've been looking for something like this for ages but just can't seem to track any down.

Date: 2009-05-28 04:33 pm (UTC)I'd go to an ootsie quilt fabric place. I've seen some with book spines on shelves, some with books flat, some lovely scripts and poems, and so on. Usually these are called novelty prints. Sometimes they're part of larger series.

Muppets reading books
You know, I'm scandalized to note that there are more choices in fabrics with sushi design prints than fabrics with book or library design prints!

Date: 2009-05-28 06:12 pm (UTC)I know, I thought the internets would be awash with book fabrics. Looking at the ones people have linked to, I realise I want something that has lots of book spines on it.

Wait - here:
It has some spines, yes?

It's also very easy to find fabric covered in kanji, if non-English text is OK; and there are a lot of Bible-verse text prints. There's bound to be a ton more book/text prints out there, the problem I've found over the years is that a lot of this stuff isn't very readily searchable, many of the fabric catalogs have only minimal keywords and descriptions so there's a lot of good stuff that goes missing unless you scour over virtual catalogs page by page. :(

Date: 2009-05-29 03:31 am (UTC)How much fabric do you need? Shipping costs might become an issue if it's a lot and it's heavy....

Date: 2009-05-29 09:22 am (UTC)I'm looking for maybe a couple of metres? Depending on how heavy it is, that might not be too bad for shipping? Anyway, thanks a lot for looking.
