I'm looking for some fabric that has books on it for a project. Has anyone come across such a thing? Fabric with text on would be good too.

I've been looking for something like this for ages but just can't seem to track any down.

Hmm I'm sorry I cannot help but fabric with text ... did you mean modern things ... I cannot recall exactly but I do recall seeing in a museum once (it was a temporary exhibit at one of our local museums, on loan from a Middle Eastern museum somewhere) But there was a one with sayings from the Quran in a cloth book.

Failing that I have baby cloth books with ABC's and animals on them! Pathetic reply is pathetic I know sorry!

I found a couple of links from the same website

http://www.makingclothbooks.com/crossing.htm

http://www.makingclothbooks.com/gallery.htm

and another here

hope it helps!

Books and other things (http://www.quilterscloth.co.uk/Quilting_Fabrics/By_Fabric_Pattern/Childrens/Good_for_Girls/sc1579/p6971.aspx)?

Patchwork / quilting suppliers usually have the best range of novelty prints.

Aha, thanks! I found another one too, that is a bit more like what I'm after: http://moda.fabricmatcher.com/uploads/images/fabrics/26066-16-T.jpg

Yes, I've seen in the quilt shops several times. I checked my online favorite but didn't see anything at the moment but their new interface sucks.

I'd go to an ootsie quilt fabric place. I've seen some with book spines on shelves, some with books flat, some lovely scripts and poems, and so on. Usually these are called novelty prints. Sometimes they're part of larger series.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep on looking. I know they must be out there somewhere. The book spines on shelves one sounds ideal.

Oh look!

Muppets reading books

You know, I'm scandalized to note that there are more choices in fabrics with sushi design prints than fabrics with book or library design prints!

Muppets! Not exactly what I'm after but thank you all the same.

I know, I thought the internets would be awash with book fabrics. Looking at the ones people have linked to, I realise I want something that has lots of book spines on it.

Did you look at the middle sample in the first link?

Wait - here:

It has some spines, yes?

I did see that, thanks. I think I'm looking for something where the spines make up the entirety of the design, like a close up of a bookshelf.

Urgh, trying to describe what I want is hard.

Hrm. This one (http://www.ladybuttonfabrics.com/cgi-bin/fabricshop/gallery.cgi?func=show&file=1180&Category=1) (full yardage version of one from my earlier eBay roundup) is pretty much just books on shelves, although it's in a very small scale. If you need a larger scale print, this one (http://www.fabricparadise.com/cgi-bin/fabricshop/gallery.cgi?func=show&file=627&Category=30) is nothing but large spines with no shelving or negative space...

And here's a few more with random (http://www.ladybuttonfabrics.com/cgi-bin/fabricshop/gallery.cgi?func=show&file=23&Category=42) text (http://www.ladybuttonfabrics.com/cgi-bin/fabricshop/gallery.cgi?func=show&file=21&Category=42)...

It's also very easy to find fabric covered in kanji, if non-English text is OK; and there are a lot of Bible-verse text prints. There's bound to be a ton more book/text prints out there, the problem I've found over the years is that a lot of this stuff isn't very readily searchable, many of the fabric catalogs have only minimal keywords and descriptions so there's a lot of good stuff that goes missing unless you scour over virtual catalogs page by page. :(

I happen to be going to one of Los Angeles' BIGGEST AND BESTEST fabric stores this Saturday. I'll see what I can find that might fit the bill, swatch it, and email the scans.

How much fabric do you need? Shipping costs might become an issue if it's a lot and it's heavy....

From: [identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com
Oh wow! That would be fabulous! :D

I'm looking for maybe a couple of metres? Depending on how heavy it is, that might not be too bad for shipping? Anyway, thanks a lot for looking.
