It's not often that a headline can make me cry, but the ones this morning did.

Dammit, that is not good. Is it just me, or wouldn't on expect California to be generally more liberal than this?

One would hope, but Arnie is obviously more persuasive than I'd have expected :(

I get disappointed when certain freedoms aren't granted, but actively upset when existing ones are taken away.

Arnie was actually a "No on 8" supporter. I'm so upset over California right now!

The black vote that helped put Obama over the top helped sink the initiative. And some other logistical mistakes. It's depressing.

Lots of very happy people on my f-list this morning!---except in regards to Prop8. But ... a new national government with a president that began his acceptance speech with the words:

"It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America."

He could make it a constitutional right.

I cried most of last night, a little this morning and am still constantly on the verge of tears.. *chuckles at self*

Oh, and when I pulled out of my driveway this morning and turned down the street to get some gas before going into work - up in the wind-whipped clouds, what should I see but a rainbow! An honest-to-god rainbow, glowing softly and happily in the early morning, as if to say "Good job, America. Change is here."

*is getting all choked up again*
^__^
*hugs you and anyone else in sight*

I'm still holding out hope that Prop 8 won't make it - it's looking grim, but it's not called yet. Though, like [livejournal.com profile] 7veilsphaedra said, maybe there's another way if this one falls...
