The Korean movie version of Antique Bakery looks-- wow. Pretty, and with lots of hot men kissing in the vicinity of delicious cakes! Oh, so true to Fumi Yoshinaga's adorable and crackaddled vision. I hope they also capture the subtler things too, like Tachibana's acceptance of his past. From this trailer, perhaps that looks unlikely, it's hard to say.

Although what happened to Ono's short red hair? But at least there is twirling round in the rain with Chi (We spun round in the rain together, didn't we?" ♥). Also, Tachibana looks great. I loved the actor who played him in the Japanese version, and the dude here has sort of the same look about him.

Watch the trailer here. With translation here. It's released on November 13 in Korea.

"Do cakes and men need to be tasted to know?"

Another age-old question that clearly begs for an answer. >_>

This looks really cool, I hope someone on [livejournal.com profile] jdramas picks it up.

Oh, YUM. I've never been able to bring myself to watch the J-drama version because I can't seem to get past the idea of Ono being straight; nice to see he gets to be his proper Demonically Charming self here!

(Have you been watching the anime? I've been pretty pleased with it so far; the plots are somewhat condensed of necessity, but they've done a pretty good job of transferring Yoshinaga-sensei's soft-edged style to animation. And the seiyuu are great.)

I watched quite a bit of the J-drama one - it focused a lot on Kanda as the straight hottie who healed the emotional pain of pretty young women using the power of cakes. Ono was straight, so that sucked. I adored Tachibana in it though.

I haven't seen the anime at all - I read some not so good reports at the start. Maybe I should give it a go.

I just caught up on the last few episodes of the anime, and I really enjoyed it a great deal. It's about as condensed as you might imagine to make it all fit into a 12-episode series, but IMO they did it pretty decently, mostly trimming away at the subplots based more around minor characters to focus more strongly on the four boys. The character design and color scheme is remarkably faithful to the original style, and I adore the voicework -- Ono in particular is a delight to listen to, you really hear his voice changing in tone when he goes from mild-mannered patissier to full-on Gay of Demonic Charm mode.

Ah, I've mostly just been watching it streaming online at Veoh -- CrunchyRoll also has it, if you've already got an account there.

good adaptation.

Oooooh.
Also, Ono's sex life in the manga is rather tame and cute really! A nice cosy bar he hangs out at (and occasionally molests young men in the bathroom), semi-steady relationships with men who all seem to want to marry him. I only just realised that while watching this trailer, where he's suddenly Brian Kinney of Tokyo. Night clubs! Dancing! Sexing in cars! I approve greatly, yes yes.
