You haven't seen the anime? Cuz that's the plotline there. I've been wondering if the loss of his pendant was important - because it was actually his limiter, perhaps.

I rather love this 'beast within' theme KM keeps returning to. Lessons for us, methinks.

Yeah, it was in the anime that Hazel actually killed his master, etc, but that plotline was pretty horrible, and I thought that was something the animators came up with because Minekura hadn't actually gotten that far. I hope we aren't really going to do that and Minekura is just screwing with us. If Hazel turns into some sort of evil angel I will plotz.

Although, Nii keeps calling him a "blue-eyed ange." Maybe he is prescient.

Hazel does have a youkai soul inside him. From what Ukoku explains, it seems to be tied into how Hazel is able to use his powers. Ukoku didn't say so yet, but it is implied that Hazel gained his power the night that Filbert died and that (since then) he has been using those youkai powers to resurrect humans.

I still can't believe she actually went there. I thought youkai!Hazel was one of those anime things, like incapable-and-vaguely-dull-Nii or delicately-feminine-Hakkai, that we'd never ever see on this end of the canon... and yet.

While I've been keeping up with the scans, I haven't been keeping up with the translations of the scans, so I have absolutely no idea what the heck is going on in the Saiyuki plot these days. Still, it's pretty and looks like there's a lot of magic and kickass going on, so I am content. But yes, youkai!Hazel came out of nowhere for me too, as I never got that far into the anime. *befuddled*

Crazycakes are what is happening! I can't remember how involved -if at all- Minekura was when Gunlock was released, but I'm kind of hoping the storyline's going to be different this time around.

Oh my, I hadn't thought to look for a new chapter, but...

Aaaaaaarrrgh. And here I was so hoping that sort of thing would stay well-buried in the anime so we could happily ignore it. I suppose in light of the more recent chapters I can give her the benefit of the doubt until things have progressed a bit further. It still makes me nervous. :/
