There's this funny page called the portal: it's like the normal update page, but has Frank the goat on, and you can change what he says. There's a list of my friends with their birthdays displayed. Best of all is that you can have a random choice of users shown. It's pretty nifty, but I don't know how to set it as the default update page.

I love it to death, too, since you pointed it out. What I've done is to set it so that it's the default Livejournal page on my 'Favourites' list in IE, and then when I want it I click on that. It's not ideal, but it works for the moment.

Aha, good thinking Batman. I love it too, and it's making me even more hopelessly addicted to this lj business than I was already.
