Just like [livejournal.com profile] daegaer says, we ONLY ate raw vegetables and drank water. The cake is a lie! And so is the blancmange.

Have some tadpole reportage

The pond, where the milky parts are frogspawn and the dark parts are shoals of tadpoles.

Close up of recently hatched tadpoles. They have little sticking out gills still, shaped like tiny fronds of coral. They disturb me.

Dear God! That's a lot of tadpoles. I predict a froggy invasion when they grow their legs. Eeek!

The frog army is gaining force. (Somehow this just reminds me of archaeology and waking up one morning to find one of our trenches had been populated by teeny tiny frogs in the night... *laugh*)

I have to admit, the sheer number of those tadpoles is rather alarming. They are also disquieting in appearance. Hopefully they are just ugly froglings, who will grow up to be beautiful frogs.

The odd thing is, they have tiny, long-suffering froggy faces: "Yeah, we know we're hideous now - have patience, please."

I lived for awhile in frog country, disappearing under development everywhere now... My daughter loved going to the nearby pond to watch the development of the tadpoles. It's most disturbing when they first start getting legs, I think.

I envy you this rich, wonderful, magical place!

You know I usually love frogs, but OH MY GOD. Run now while you still can, they are clearly gearing up for some kind of 50s B-grade scifi movie!

NIGHT OF THE KILLER FROGS.
