Erk. My journey to work took a 1.5 hours longer than it should've done, so I got into the office at 11am feeling like I wanted to go straight back home. Even a latte failed to help, and that's bad.

The Ideal Home Show website has sinister hammers that swivel to follow you round the page when you move your mouse. Looking at you. This is one of the creepiest things I've ever seen.

Those hammers. I am traumatised.

I suspect hammers will be featuring in my nightmares tonight.

Gah, I know! It's definitely from the department of 'what were they thinking?'

O.o
It's like Living in The Wall. Except without the mincing machine.

The Hammers, they've spotted me!!

I can't believe someone thought it was a good idea.

... I glanced at your subject line and I swear I saw "sinister hamsters". I'm obviously not fully awake yet. ^^

I read it as hamsters (whom I usually find cute) and went to check it out. Then I was frightened by the hammers. Aaaaiiiieeee. WTH were they thinking?

Maybe the designer had suffered some hammer related trauma? It's hard to understand!

chomiji: Hotaru from Samurai Deeper Kyo, a little closer to Kyo's blade Tenrou than he'd like, with the caption Uh Oh Crap (Hotaru-uh oh!)

Actually, they have a whole series of sinister inanimate things, depending on which menu choice you select. The front-loading washing machines under "Kitchen Ideas" manage to be both comical and sinister ... .

I have since realised they are all on the theme of eyes watching you, which is not exactly comforting.

It's like some sort of dystopic spying/punishment device. Perhaps from some German movie from the 1920's or 1930's.

Haven't they seen Pink Floyd's The Wall? Or maybe they did, and liked it too much.

...oh thank god I'm not the only one who read it as 'sinister hamsters'. I was very confused, too, because I couldn't figure out why there would be hamsters on a website about home improvement. Alas, I then actually visited the website and soon realized my mistake.

The hammers are creepy too, though.
