My birthday

It's my birthday tomorrow. Yay me!

We're off to the northern lands this evening for a few days, for healthful blustery coastal walks and plenty of fish, chips and beer. And Whitby! I love Whitby. I bought some new walking boots and socks just for this occasion. Expect lots of pictures of Whitby abbey and crashing waves.

emungere wrote me awesome Saiyuki fic today, which maybe she will show you when it's properly finished. I don't mean to taunt you all with this. But. It's just so good! I feel the need to reread it about 70 times. ♥

Anyway, to sum up: hoorah! I'll be back on Monday, caked in sea spray.

Happy advance b'day and you have no idea how surprised I was for about 2 seconds when you said you were going to Whitby. Then I was confused as the Whitby I know is several thousand miles from any sea/ocean (but a stones throw from one of the Great Lakes, if that counts).

Yea for the colonies stealing existing place names!

Heee! What's your Whitby like? Ours is a small fishing port with a ruined abbey and vaguely tacky seaside attractions.

Ours is a fair sized city (although it's referred to as a town for municipal purposes) with a population of roughly 110,000. One of it's claims to fame is a psychiatric hospital. And a miniature village done in 1/64th scale. It's one of several towns/cities in the Durham Region (also known as the 905 area).
