Bye bye [livejournal.com profile] daegaer, who is leaving our fair British shores today, and by shores I mean Stanstead airport. It was truly a joy having you to stay and thank you for the giant pile of socks you left me in a rainbow of colours! A sockbow, as you called it. I am wearing some yellow ones today in honour of, well, having a lot of new socks.

In other news, Gaywyck continues to be fabulous. Robert, our troubled hero, is deeply in love with Donough Gaylord. He has found secret diaries in the writing desk in the art room, has investigated a secret dark passageway (!), has been stalked in the abandoned cottage in the grounds, had his letters stolen and has fallen into a miserable slump over the cruelty of winter and is tormented by nightmares. But! Just as he is about to expire of despair into Brian's beautiful spice cakes, Donough has arrived, bringing with him Timothy Goodbody and Eugene Mortimer who wear Persian lamb and sing Mahler. (for my selected excerpts, see this post)

The names crack me up.

Would you describe the book as campy? It sounds like a lot of fun, although I can't tell from your comments if the book is intended as a "serious" book or a sort of parody/satire.

I should make it clear that in every respect the book is not campy!! Apart from the obvious campness of the content, it is written entirely with a straight face.

Isn't Gaywyck fantastic? It's absolutely genius in its wrongness. The description of Robert as "too beautiful to be alive" made me buy the book on the spot. I'm not giving up my copy for any money.

Of course, the expressions on my face throughout my reading didn't vary much:

I am utterly bowled over by Gaywyck, as much as poor Robert is by the wondrous manly form of Donough in the gymnasium, although I can't help but think a hammock is a poor choice of place for sex.

The plot is getting more and more random. I really hope that it's all tied together at the end otherwise my head might have to explode.

He and his special friend Euguene are top class lawyers in New York. Eugene is a Haitian prince! They have seven cats, all named after angels.

The mind, it boggles with wonderment.

^__^. Hello there.

Sadly my pc has problems with sendspace, so no worries, I am sure it was beautifully read, though as I have heard previous voice posts before. "Why G and H should have sex?" comes to mind foremost of course!

No worries, I will have to try and track it down some time though it sounds like a wonderful read. It seems to have 'Antique Bakery' nuances. Which intrigues me of course.

-ps, just a lil' question ... did anything from this side of the world reach your door. Jus' a wonderin'. ^__^

Oh, that's a shame. Try this one instead. I was only able to download the first reading though. Woe, you will not get to hear the purple prose of cave masturbation: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NDPQ24UT

Also, yes!! I got it about a week ago, thank you so much!! I think it sat with my neighbours for a few days - the address was fine, it was just the postman. So many pretty things. Matt is very grateful for his hanky and thought it was so sweet that you thought of him. I'm planning to use the facepack this weekend, and the clip and the bracelets and the tea! Thanks for answering my questions too - it was so nice to get a letter from you. I've been meaning all week to post and let you know it arrived, but just kept forgetting, so I'm very sorry about that.

It was a lovely surprise. :D

Oh no worries, I was just worried that it had got lost in the floods or something.

And thank you for uploading to MU, it works better with us over here than sendspace for some reason.

Will go forth and listen to some now! ^__^

Also I hope you enjoy the little ah-uh...weekend treat package ^_~.
