I did see this on my flist this morning, but now I can't find it.

Ask me about my fic--something I wrote, character, plotline, even a really short commentary--and I'll give you an explanation, snippet, or something. Kind of like a dvd commentary, but shorter and faster.

Not sure about the snippet side of things, but I'd love to answer any questions anyone might have.

Oh goody!

Finally a legitimate chance to ask you: how DID the dead cow get in the tree in "Over the Moon"? (If you want to preserve the mystery, which I totally respect, instead please answer how you conceptualized that story; I'd love to hear some of your thought processes in putting it together that way....)

Ahahaha. I might have to keep that a secret! :D

I can answer the other bit of the question though. The prompt was 'bad first time', which got me considering various bad first time scenarios. I'm not quite sure when the dead cow arrived, but it was probably during a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] emungere. The story grew from there, really. I did think that I wanted to write something fairly long, and also something that expressed the way I see the characters and in a way that I hadn't done before. One of my favourite things about Saiyuki is the way that the characters have a lot of depth - they are in some senses very bad people, and they have lived violent and painful lives. I wanted to write about that and how such things as death and love might affect them.

I hope that answers your question, at least a little?

As I suspected you would. That's okay, I'll keep coming up with bizarre and troubling scenarios in my own head, in absence of any official answers.

One of my favourite things about Saiyuki is the way that the characters have a lot of depth - they are in some senses very bad people, and they have lived violent and painful lives.

That's what I love about the best Saiyuki fan writing, that the characters' violence and pain and "badness" are accurately represented, yet I still adore them. (My own writing is sadly deficient in that; I've always been, in all my fandoms, either a "redeemer" of the Bad Boy/s - or Girl/s - OR I overlook the darker qualities I can't deal with, not quite ignoring them but writing around them. Does that make any sense?)

I hope that answers your question, at least a little?

A little. ;) Thank you for taking the time.
