A miracle - Forbidden Planet in Brum was actually up to date with its manga, so I got Wild Adapter vol 1 on Friday. Yay for translations! I think that Komiya seems even more in love with Kubota in translation. The little cameo by Komiya's girlfriend is great - telling him to at least shut up about his boyfriend while they're having sex, so she can concentrate. Also, woe. Poor Komiya. I also twigged stuff about Kasai that I never did before, ie, him being a mahjong fiend. And I loved Kubota disappointedly thinking that actually he'd really wanted a new piece of gum when Mr Sanada kisses him.

I have no idea what George Takei is saying, because I have no earphones and the office is full, but he looks like he's just made a good point.

I posted another timestamp story last night, a tiny sequel to One Summer, here. It has sex and happiness and was very fulfilling to write. When I wrote the original story, I planned to expand it into something much longer, something maybe even novel length and that never happened. I think I need to make another to do list.

I watched Primeval last night, the new ITV rival to Doctor Who, even though ITV insists that it's not. It had anomalies and giant centipedes and spiders. I had no idea what was going on and apparently there was someone from S Club 7 in it. Lots of people were pretty though, even though many of them were also annoying.

I too have Wild Adapter (don't faint but Amazon got it to me almost as soon as the English version was released). The kiss made me squee - as did Sanada's regret about Kubota leaving before he had the chance to make him his. Love those double-entendres.

Very bleak, though, isn't it? Although perhaps not as grim as Bus Gamer.

I'm undecided about Primeval. I wanted to like it, but it feels to me as if they have a list of things that will appeal (Sassy blond? Check. Moody guy in leather? Check. Cute dinosaur? Check). But there have been tinsy winsy hints at maybe an arc and Meaning, so I guess I'll give it another week before I consign it to the bin containing Lost and Torchwood.

It is bleak. It's really laid on in spades - Kubota predicting he'll die like that cat of his and then also saying he'll die first at the end! Okay. Something tells me this series might not have a happy ending.

Oh, Torchwood. It could've been so good, too. That blonde woman in Primeval had a funny bottom lip and it bothered me a lot.

I was totally unable to get into Wild Adapter when I tried to read the scans, but for some reason I bought the official translation (err, I think Amazon waved it at me and I was feeling impressionable or something) and really enjoyed it a whole lot. :)

Yeah, I think it's so easy to miss nuances in the scans, and now this feels like a proper story to me, rather than something garbled that I am picking up through a faulty reciever. Not to say that scans aren't wonderful if there is nothing else.

Ha! George Takei says, "I love sweaty basketball players!" ♥

When I wrote the original story, I planned to expand it into something much longer, something maybe even novel length

!!!!

So, that would be, you know, AWESOME. :)

Go George! What a dude.

Awesome. :D And, oh look, another novel-length idea. It will have to go into the storage house of smut.

I ♥ George Takei!

I had the honor of meeting him a couple of years ago when he was speaking at an Asian Leadership conference. I knew the event planner and he got us special pre-event passes. George Takei was just walking around, so we started up a conversation with him. We ended up just chewing the fat for about 1/2 hour. What an interesting person! Very intelligent, thoughtful and down-to-earth... Made me a bigger fan of his. ^_^ ♥

I've been looking at Wild Adapter for a while now, but I just haven't gotten it yet. So you would recommend it?

*grins at the thought of the fic written by my request*

Ahem... anyway.

When I wrote the original story, I planned to expand it into something much longer, something maybe even novel length

That thought is just too happy for words!! Maybe the plan might come back into focus sometime? *grin*

So, I have a question (and I'm not too sure it is an on-topic question, in fact, it isn't on topic at all). I was wondering if you wrote a series of drabbles about a Saiyuki AU (not Nick/Tim, this one is different). It's one where Gojyo and Sanzo work in a detective agency, and Hakkai shows up to hire them to find his sister. Hakkai shows up dressed as a woman, as a matter of fact. They find her at a mental institution, but it's too late, she kills herself. Sanzo picks up Goku there, and they all end up together.

If this is not your fic (even though I was so sure that you wrote it) then I truly apologize for wasting your time. I'll just have to take this question to the saiyukiyaoi community...

That's Trouble Is My Business (http://emungere.livejournal.com/118049.html) by [livejournal.com profile] emungere. The follow-ups are Poodle Springs 1 (http://emungere.livejournal.com/149866.html) and 2 (http://emungere.livejournal.com/180428.html) and Goldfish (http://emungere.livejournal.com/155875.html). If there's more to this series, I don't know. ^^

So pleased you liked the fic. I hope the bigger version comes back into focus too, at some point.

I sorta prefer my untranslated tankobons to the scanlations or official translation. Then I can pretend it isn't so damn bleak and that my favorite characters aren't going to die messily. In my own world, of course, K&T set up a diabolical import/export business with the Chinese guy and form a very happy threesome.

That would be ideal really, and they could have a scary domestic lifestyle that included gun smuggling and playstations. Kou could work on ways to make sure Tokitoh's hand doesn't explode, or whatever.

Yes, exactly! I still haven't bought the TPOP for this reason.

You never know, there might be a happy ending, or at least less than completely traumatic. I still have my worries about Saiyuki, personally.
