I got a Valentine card from Gojyo. He said sorry he couldn't make it over, but Jeep was refusing to move. (I have my doubts though. It's far more likely something to do with Hakkai than Jeep). And I'm sure there's a tasteless joke to be made about Hakkai and Gojyo's girlfriends and a valentine's day massacre, but I haven't had enough caffeine...

Anime. The problem with the manga is that I want to see it before I buy it, to make sure I'll like it; not all manga is to my taste. But every time I go to a place that sells manga, they do not have the first volume. And apparently there is a part of me that just cannot even contemplate the perusal of later volumes before I've read the first one.

But I continue to look. Sooner or later, these places are going to realize that they need to stock the earlier ones if they want latecomers to buy the later ones, and then, presumably, the manga will be mine.

Mmm, I totally agree. I'm the same. Saiyuki manga art is a little uneven throughout vols 1-3, then really settles down by vol 4, and to my eye is very pretty indeed. I could upload scans of the first few volumes if you'd like that, although I know scans are not the easiest things to read.

I'll just say that the anime is sadly painful when compared to the manga artwork.

Oh, that would be perfect. If I like them, I can order them online and save myself a lot of hideous browsing time. (Hideous because where I do most of my browsing, the manga section is occupied at all times by at least 3 males who have never, ever seen an earth female before, to judge by their stares. It's worse than guys in RPG stores, who in their turn were worse than the guys in comic book stores. Apparently I need to get more girly hobbies. Or find better places to shop.)
