Someone filled my head with concrete while I wasn't looking. Damn them. *shakes fist* I want to write something, but can only stare at my screen/page/nerveless fingers and cough pathetically.

So write me some smut thing instead! It worked last time. If you want a prompt you can have any or all of: character, pairing, word or two lines of poetry.

It didn't matter; it couldn't, really. One moment everything was there, right and perfect, like it ought to be. The next, everything was gone. Shattered, lost, trailing in a bloodied breeze on tendrils of shreaded cloth.

The emptiness was worse, though. Painful and conspicuous in its void. The vacuum of wrongness where a filled something should be. And he should have known the exact moment it left. But instead, he had been happy, content in the rightness of the day. Knowing that the rest of the day would play out how it always did, with a smile and a warmth he could not find anywhere else.

But, today was different, and the broken shards of pottery and glass strewn haphazardly across the room wasn't the smile he had been expecting. And the torn remnants of draperies and clothing wasn't the warmth he had been waiting for. And the emptiness of the room stood out in stark contrast with what should have been.

And there had been nothing he could have done, simply because he had not known.

But he knew now.

He picked up the one bright speck in an otherwise filthy, dull grey world. The knife was fitted to his hand, it seemed, and when he swung it, it shed the most beautiful shade of crimson he had ever seen.

Oh, ow. What a fantastic last line. It's interesting, in the first two paragraphs it could be Sanzo or Hakkai - which made me relaise that those events in both their lives are so similar.

Thanks so much for this.

^_^ I'm so glad that you liked it. ^_^

And, yes, the amazing amount of parallels and shadowing are amazing in Saiyuki. (Reason why I like it so much, well, that and the pretty men and almost blatent Hakkai/Gojyo ^_^)
