My life

A very nice person phoned from the PC World customer service centre to remind me that if my laptop wasn't back from the menders by the first of December, I should go back to the shop and claim my dues by the 28-day warranty rule, ie, I get a brand new one. I was quite stunned to be to offered this advice, quite unasked for.

Considering that I'd only had the 'old' laptop for 4 weeks before it broke, it seems wasteful to get a whole new one, but I'm tempted.

In other news I made an exceedingly rich fruit cake. I love recipes that stipulate two different grades of brown sugar. It's now steeping in brandy in a dark place.

eta: an interesting discussion on [livejournal.com profile] yonmei's journal about the Ryairi Dougal rape case that was thrown out of court today, the guy who seems to have thought it was okay to have sex with a woman who was passed out drunk. Not only that, he was a security guard who was supposed to be making sure she got home okay.

Ooh. New computer AND fruitcake. Score!

I think Sanzo in love is going to haunt me all through Thanksgiving dinner.

Yum!

eeee! You're hooked:) Sanzo in love is going to haunt me till I write it. I wonder how long it would take him to work out what that funny feeling was.

Sanzo: ...It's just indigestion, dammit!

it would explain the loss of appetite... but not the random smiling and laughing and being nice. He'd be stumped. Maybe he'd think he was going mad.

Hee. Or possessed. Or under some sort of curse. Poor Sanzo... (And oh man, if anyone ever threatened his bf, he would be terrifying.)

I think I've never made a fruitcake... but it sounds delicious!

And the laptop news sound promising. I'd definitely go for it when the first of december comes without your laptop. It won't be all that wasteful, because they'll surely "recycle" it to sell on. :)

You may be right, I think. And the fact that the old one seemed to have begun life already damaged doesn't bode well for it.

I'm a very naughty girl :-) And me a language teacher . . .

I did it in about ten seconds (Er, um, oh holy fuck, what the hell's that word? God damn numbers, argh!) and then in proof of divine providence, we didn't get round to going over it! Phew! *redoes homework*

I'm trying to persuade the teacher to the manga side of the Force! Not with much success . . .

Me: *shows various books*

Her: Saiyuki, eh? Never heard of it. Ah, girl's manga, hmm. Assassins . . . *polite smile*

That's a shame! Translating manga would probably quadruple my interest in taking lessons.
