I spent a goodly part of the weekend licking my Due South Call of the Wild dvd and loving it that Ray is SO SAD Fraser is leaving. And he's all twitchy and quiet and nervous around Ray Vecchio, like he's going to take Fraser away.

Ray K is so lost even at the thought of Fraser not being there. I also think Ray K was pretty much in love with Fraser from day one. It's the only thing that makes his behaviour make any sense-- like the way he constantly trusts Fraser with his life, the way he tried to break it off when it's clear Fraser doesn't trust him back equally, the way he went on the crazy Henry Allen trip solely because it was important to Fraser. And then how he finally thinks that Fraser is the single most important person in his life, the one who defines who is he. Which is what being in love is.

Ray V says going undercover for him was like this: 'It feels like you died and didn't get everything done.' Like doing Fraser. I know that's what you meant, Ray. Fraser's description of how one goes about getting an eagle feathert o make into a dream catcher is one of the single most charming Fraserisms in the whole show. Not counting the whole of the drag episode, when Fraser even starts licking things in a ladylike way.

Talking of which, [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's A Dare's a Dare. Fraser/RayK [eta - this link's timing out for some reason, even though it's proper]. This is just so well done-- the way things are said and not said between Ray and Fraser, the partial playacting of Fraser's drag while at the same time the sense of it being also completely in earnest. Wow, yes.

Bone and Aristide's Unguarded Protectorate - Fraser/RayK, rated NC-17. Someone shows an interest in Fraser and it forces Ray to accept his own feelings. This is long, and really quite painful at the start, but it builds up tension wonderfully and the sex is very intense.

You've read Speranza's Enduring Distance, yes? Set after Call of the Wild? I have so much love for... well, all her stories, admittedly. But that one's lovely.

I have to admit I've read all of her stuff -- well, devoured it is more like. I do love Enduring Distance very much too-- I love how she sets it up and the hotel and how all it ties into CotW. Yeah, it's a good one. :)

Hey :) Do you know any Due South archives or websites geared toward DS recs? I haven't read any DS fics in a while and you're kind of getting me in the mood for it again. :p
