Sep. 8th, 2005 10:02 pmUkulele Orchestra of Gereat Britain - Smells Like Teenspirit. Where did I get this from? One of my ex's played the ukulele. He still does, as far as know. I now far too much about them, even for residual knowledge.
English Folk Song Suite, 3rd movement - Vaughan Williams. Too jolly. I prefer Benjamin Brittain's versions.
Oh! You Pretty Things - David Bowie. Apparently this was the inspiration for The Tomorrow People. It's a fine song. Shame about the TV program.
It's Too Bad - The Jam. Bloody hell, The Jam really make me feel depressed.
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John. Some good melancholy chords going on here.
Waterloo - Abba. I feel like I win when I lose! Yes. This song screams Ray Kowalski to me.
Incredible Hulk theme tune - Joe Harnell. It has good tom toms but no voice over, alas.
I've Got a Theory - Cast of Buffy. Giles's smile at Hey, I've died twice-- gah, it gets me every time.
David Watts - The Jam. Again. But I do like this one.
Requiem: Offertorium: Dominie Jesus Christie - Mozart. On my list of things to do: one day I'll see this performed live.
Come as you are - Nirvana. Came late to Nirvana, and always liked this one.
Baby Don't Change Your Mind - Gladys Knight+ her pips. Phew, a bit of a jump between genres there. A bit needy this song, and annoying.
Comfortably Numb - Scissor Sisters. I adore this, just love what they did with this compared to the original version. Also very much a 'Doctor Ni' song for me.
Requiem: Sequentia: Dies Irae - Mozart. Music for listening to VERY LOUDLY.
Maggie Mae - The Beatles.
Bad Boy Boogie - Mark Kozelek. I listen to this whole album of AC/DC covers a lot - sung with just an acoustic guitar he makes them sound more like Leonard Cohen than metal.
Keep on the Sunny Side - The Whites. Perky bluegrass. Bit too perky really.
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynard Skynard. This song was on every jukebox in every crappy pub in my home town, but I still like it.
The Good Book Song - The Main Street Singers. 'It's scary but it's true, but do what the good book tells you to!' From A Mighty Wind, one of the funniest films I've ever seen. A sort of Spinal Tap for folk.
Laura - Scissor Sisters. Well, I like them all.
Is it 'cos I'm cool? - Mousse T feat Emma Lanford. Seriously, I have no idea who these people are. I liked this song though.
Tonight We Fly - The Divine Comedy. I like them, but don't know this song very well.
Big Balls - Hayseed Dixies. Yeah, I have more than one album of AC/DC covers. I don't know why either. This is AC/DC as bluegrass and very funny.
[don't know title] - Belle and Sebastian. Sad harmonica and strings music, with John Barry overtones. I like it.
Mis-shapes - Pulp. The song about being different in small Northern towns.
Rockford Files - Mike Post. Just-- rockin'!
Preparation - Seki Toshihiko. Sanzo's voice actor - in this song you realise that his voice is actually quite high and that voicing Sanzo must be hell on his vocal chords.
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order. Sometimes they're brilliant, sometimes they're utterly crap. This is a good one.
I'll be your mirror - Velvet Underground and Nico. Nico not being able to sing wasn't the point-- she was still brilliant. A bit of a Hakkai/Gojyo song for me.
Kentucky Rain - Elvis. I love this one of his. I can never, ever get over how good his voice is on this track.
