Please, please don't let Michael Howard be Prime Minister tomorrow. Please. *crosses fingers*

I did a 400+  mile round trip on public transport today and no one mentioned the election. I even dragged it into the conversation twice, once with a taxi driver even, but no one wanted to say anything and I was left with the odd feeling that no one cared and that it was just passing the country by. This isn't true for everyone, obviously, but the feeling I got from today was just one of apathy; on campus, on the trains, in shops. It was very odd.

Seconded, from the bottom of my heart.

Thank god he didn't get in! And let's hope Blair steps down soon, too.

I felt sick watching TV forecasts of how many seats the Tories *might* win -- the worst thing is no-one knows. It's a very unpleasant return to the bad old pre-1997 election nights. I'm going to watch Bremner, Bird and Fortune... then either go to bed and get up to a potentially nasty surprise... or wait it out for a very long night. Aargh!

I hate this - they're now saying Labour should be nervous because the Sunderland South Lab majority is down. *How can they tell* from *one* result with a 49% turnout.

If Howard gets in I shall... well, I dunno what I'll do, but I shall be deeply upset.

I'm watching the elctions and UTV says Labour has 47, to Con 1 and LD 2

BBC: Lab 25, LD 2, Con 1.

(I'm perplexed, but it looks like Labour are loosing votes but still winning seats)

Well, he didn't get in, yay! That man gives me the creeps. I hope Blair doesn't take this as an excuse to keep on as he's been going, though.

I think yesterday was one of the lowest ever voter turnouts, which seems to mirror the mass apathy I picked up yesterday. I hope Blair steps down soon, although I have a terrible feeling his control-freakery won't allow him to let go.

Do you think Brown would be a better PM? Assuming he has Labour's support, of course.

Honestly? I really don't know. He supported Blair though Iraq, the gap between rich and poor is growing in this country... I wouldn't entirely trust him not to support some mad Bushist scheme to invade Iran. But then he's more old-school left-wing labour than Blair. Even though he's faithfully stuck by Blair's side over Iraq, one has to wonder how much of his authority he's going to start throw around now Labour has got a much smaller majority. It's going to be harder for Blair to push through policies like ID cards, etc.

I really want Charles Kennedy to be PM.
