So, where is all the Top Gun slash? Just curious really. I saw a fic today - the one and only fic I've ever seen and for a film with slo-mo volleyball and lots of locker-room towel wearing you'd think there'd be piles of it.  Or was it those horrid little v-shaped smiles that put everyone off?

Veering wildly, I've been watching Angel for the first time ever! How did I manage to avoid it for so long? It's really good. Angel's bad dancing is a thing of beauty that will stay in my mind for a long time.  As a character in Buffy he was rubbish and annoying, but in Angel he's a slightly lost, vulnerable guy and the way Cordelia and Wesley are protective of him is, well, quite frankly it makes me squee.

I've also been watching an anime called X, which is quite a lot of fun. Everyone has seriously pointy chins and there's a lot of leaping from rooftop to rooftop in a silly way. Nearly everyone has mystical powers of leaping and is Mysterious. But there's some nice hurt/comfort bits where the beefcakey boy puts his arm protectively round the skinny boy (Kamui, I think), even when he's just saying hello or attaching a plaster.  I like it.

They may be triangles with feet, but they're pretty triangles with feet. XD I have a soft spot for Seishirou and his "I keel j00 and eat ice cream *beam*" attitude.

Have you been to Just a Little Ecchi (http://www.seishirou.nu/ecchi/)? It has some -hilarious- X comics (spoilers for the manga, but you'll get the point).

They are very pretty. In fact I'm having to hold back from watching it right now when I should be working. *is hopelessly tempted*

Tom Cruise, I guess. Shudder. I only watched it for the Michael Ironside action.

Tom Cruise-- he's slash resistant. There's just something creepy about him.

It's that huge middle tooth...

That definitely plays a part.

I really love Tom, but I do admit he's difficult to slash. The closest I can get is The Last Samurai, but even so, it has to be all tragic and doomed. Damn, but they're intense, though.

Top Gun *is* the gayest of the gay. Every time I hear blokey blokes bloke on about it, I have to snicker.

A guy at work, who is a bit of a homophobe, told me once that it's his favourite film. I fell about.

Oh god, I know. At my old job (which was a lot more testosterone-laden and boys-own than my new job), the guys all worshipped it. I tended to quote Hollywood and Wolfman:

"This gives me a hard on."

"Don't tease me."

Complete with doe-eyed look. Throwing in Slider's total possessiveness regarding Iceman tended to upset them, as well. And the groping, and the "with a lady this time" stuff, and, guh.

In fact, I might go watch that now.

Like Die Hard. Guys go on about how it's such a guy's movie and I think it's the ultimate chickflick!

:g: wait til he goes dark. it is a thing of beauty, I tell you.

Re : Top Gun - I believe I've seen one other fic on the same community a month or so back and that's it. Maybe the unbelievable gayness makes people incapable of wrting more fic for it.

Yes, Top Gun is just too gay! Our work here is already done.

Oooh, I saw the episode where he goes dark-- ouch.

I *miss* Angel! Well, to be honest, I mostly miss Wesley. *g* But yeah, it was an excellent show overall, and it's a shame it's gone. I need to rewatch season 2 again some time soon - there were major slashy vibes between Wesley and Gunn all through that season.

Oh, Wesley. He has one of those faces that you just have to keep looking at. I love the way by the end of season 1 his character is developing a more serious side, beyond the comedy sidekick.

I often wonder if I would've loved Angel so much if I'd seen him on Buffy first, rather than the other way around.

I've only ever seen him on Buffy and I didn't like him at all, although to be fair he was better/less annoying than Spike. But now I love him as a character, I think because there's more humour to set off the angst.

Yeah, he's a lot more self-aware-feeling in Angel-- I think someone woke up and realized how old he really was. XD And like anyone on Buffy wasn't less annoying than Spike.

But there will be more angst. Oh yes.

Eee! X! I love X! Yay!

...sorry, fangirly moment there. Though I think you must not be very far along in the series. ^^

Yes, I've watched 3, I think. I do like it, it's so much fun.

Ah, the joy of X and the Dememted Grasshopper. Is wonderfully cracktastic. Have you met Sorata yet?
And the people who play Kaumi and Sorata (in english) will be Hakkai and Gojyo in Reload.

Hee! That's rather amusing:D I've only seen about 3 of them so far, but the crack is *very* addictive.

Angel's view of himself is hilarious in that dancing scene. It's the contrast between what everybody thinks of him, and the way he knows he's crap at stuff but doesn't admit it.

That's it, absolutely! That's why I loved that scene so much.

Oooh, personally I love Tokyo Babylon, which is like a prequel to X. Features Subaru Sumeragi in a big way, which is very cool. :D
