I love wombats.

This is the truth. They're furry, grass eating, night loving and solitary. How can you not adore something that looks like a pajama case? If one were here with me today I'd sweep it up in my arms and hug it.  And then I would go away and get my bites and scratches stitched up at the local hospital. They might look cute, furry and harmless but beware!  They've got incredibly strong back legs. Imagine your cat when it does its SCUFFKILL! manoeuvre with its hind paws. Imagine your cat as a small bear-like creature that emits a high pitched cry and likes being left alone (not hard, is it?)  and you have the wombat.

Who could not love a species that can be divided into Hairy-nosed and Common? Southern Hairy-nosed and Northern Hairy-nosed? Actually, that describes almost everyone  I know.  So, wombats are more like humans than you'd  think, especially if you're a small, bear-like, vegetarian loner.

Oh. I am a wombat.

Also, don't forget that any day can be designated International Wombat Day!
