There's been a fire in Charles Saatchi's warehouse. Apparently it had Jake and Dinos Chapman's Hell in there, and it looks like it's gone for good. I can't say how sad that makes me, and I can't imagine how they feel. It was a sculpture, ranged across nine large glass boxes, much like a Hornby train set model landscape, but it was of Hell. The detail of the modelling was boggling. It was a thing of very, very black humour. It made me feel queasy, and it made me laugh and I never did find the rumoured tiny model of Stephen Hawkins going over a cliff in his wheelchair.

There was far more than just that one sculpture in there though - there were works by Paula Rego and Jenny Saville, amongst others. Who knows what else was destroyed.

That's awful. :( I saw that piece and I was in absolute awe of the amount of work that must have gone into it.
