Apr. 4th, 2002 04:54 pm'Ben' by Michael Jackson is stuck in my head like chewing gum to the carpet. Aaargh. Did you know that that song was about his rat? Amazing. Spent most of today doing beta at work. How satisfying to get it done, after deleting it all by mistake yesterday. My head's in a bit of a whirl this week - I feel all fretful and like I can't concentrate. I'm sure this is down to reading too much slash recently. When I do that, it's as though my imagination gets too full, and it's all I can think about. My new West Wing fad is the cause.
In last night's episode of 'Manchild', two of the male characters were fantasising about lesbians to each other. It made me think about how acceptable that is, for men to be into gay women, it's seen as normal. How abnormal it would be considered if it had been two women having a similar conversation, but about gay men. I've never seen anything like that on TV or in films. I can't help feeling a bit sidelined.

Re: Oh, Rats.
Date: 2002-04-09 01:27 pm (UTC)No, me either. *shudder* I do have plenty of outlets for my slashy needs online though. I suppose I was feeling a resentful because I was having to listen to the old cliche of men fantasing about lesbians. A female scriptwriter would probably get a lot of stick for writing the 'yang' scene to this, and would it make it onto tv where most channels are still controlled by men? Yes, I was definitely feeling resentful. *gets of high horse*
