For those of you who have no doubt been avidly following the two-tone beep mystery -it has been solved! By a nice man called Glenn. It was caused by my video card being 'worn out' (technical term there). So now it has a nice new card, and its case is back on and the thing is sitting here humming quietly just like a proper computer should, not as it was before: case off, mechanical guts hanging out and giant fan aimed at the thing. Normality has been achieved. I will now relax with a deep and contented sigh and proceed to bunk off the last day of my training course.
