I conked out on the sofa again last night so didn't post anything, so here are Friday and Saturday:

Friday

Pajamas!

11am. I should be working on all those things I have to do, instead I am playing MINECRAFT. Sorry boss.

I went into the garden at lunch to see if there was any frogspawn yet. The many frogs were having a ball out there in the pond, in the rain, but no frog fetuses yet.

This is chicken soup, which eventually I had to tip away because I got squeamish. I'm not really a vegetarian anymore, after about 20 years, but I like to know if the animals I eat have been responsibly farmed and looked after to a high standard. As much as you can know that anymore, it seems? I bought this soup but realised that it didn't say if the chickens were happy chickens, and so kept thinking about battery hens while trying to eat it. I had a tin of tuna instead, which.... is that any better? Meat is confusing.

On the other hand, biscuits are not confusing. I made these ginger cookies using [personal profile] emungere's very easy Sparkled Ginger Cookies recipe on Beautiful Soop. They are incredibly delicious, although with this batch I think I got baking powder and baking soda confused again, so they didn't expand as much as they should have, so I was left with a sort of mini ginger rock bun. Also I lacked the demerera so they are not sparkled on the top. But still very tasty. The molasses is the secret weapon in these, making them soft and chewy inside. Also, don't stint on the ground ginger.

I took Mr Lux out for cocktails after work. The bar was quite packed and loud, and we had to inch our way to a seat, but it was good to be out of the house. We have here a margarita and an espresso martini:

And this is a 'Bloody Sour', with Mr Lux's Cosmopolitan in the background. The bloody sour was kind of weird. It had vodka, passion fruit, lime and passionfruit puree, so it was a bit of an alarming very-sweet-and-yet-chili-flavoured experience. I had envisaged a sort of bloody mary plus, so it wasn't really what I was after.

To bookend the day, before I drank more wine and crashed out on the sofa, my outfit at the end of the night:

Beware [profile] matildafilch, there is my face below the cut. Not a very big face though, if that helps. Saturday

Stumbled out of bed at half eleven this morning. Life giving tea. Morning in the only time I make it in a teapot:

Merely 24 hours after I last stalked the frogs, frogspawn has arrived!

For [personal profile] tarteaucitron, my Alan Rickman's wig tribute hair:

My 'home gym'. I've been making myself use this again, as it's too easy to let it sit judgingly in the corner. I've been using the time to watch Season 8 of Supernatural with my laptop propped up on the chest of drawers opposite.

An awesome make up parcel arrived today! Thank you [personal profile] daegaer! There were also cat themed notebooks, and a really amazing bubblegum pink nailpolish that I couldn't find for this photo. The eyeliner pen is dark blue, and I made a real mess of it trying to give myself 'kitten eyes'. Giving myself reasonably neat kitten eyes is my new makeup goal. If you're wondering what the exact difference is between kitten eyes and cat eyes, then you are basically looking at the wrong person. But I think they don't have as much of an elongated point at the side? So your eyes look larger and rounder rather than longer.

Domestic bliss aka not my turn to do the washing up. I made mashed potato with garlic and lemon salmon for dinner, it was so delicious, but forgot to take a picture.

I am surprised at the dearth of melamine articles in the background of your photos. Always pictured you surrounded by shelves bursting with them, LOL. Funny the images we build up for ourselves.

I love your Snape impersonation.

Ohhh! Well, that makes sense :-D.

Although I might quibble over the designation of melamine as non-essential. ;-)

Not vegetarian anymore?! O.O

I do sometimes wish I still ate fish, because it really is good for you, but the fishing industry is a nightmare. The tuna probably died happy but something that relied on it for its habitat and ecosystem will be sad it's not still in the sea. But as compromises go, it's almost certainly better than the chicken soup.... it is fraught with difficulty, isn't it?

(Politics aside, I do believe that what people eat is their business and try not to be a preachy veggie. But you're right, it is confusing!)

I love your jammies. ♥

For me it's the economic issues first (we could feed the world better if we grew crops instead of cows) - although once I'd been vegetarian for a while the concept of eating animals just seems weird. I don't really distinguish between killing a cat or a dog or a cow - it all seems a bit wrong to me now. Eating meat wasn't repugnant to me at first, but it is now. Strange how that works!

But we're omnivores and maybe you just needed the protein or whatever that red meat offers and weren't getting it elsewhere. Better to listen to your body. (Although if I listened to mine I'd just exist on chocolate and cheese sandwiches...)

If you don't mind me asking, how was your digestive system with eating meat again after so long? People often tell me they don't want to stop eating meat in case they 'lose the enzymes' and I never really know what to advise them about that.
