My new product development! Mills and Boon wallets o'romance. I'm really pleased how these turned out, although the vinyl is a real bitca to sew. Thank you , [livejournal.com profile] toscas_kiss, for the lend of the special grabber foot. Total lifesaver.

And an Agatha Christie:

I also found some awesome mouldy paperbacks today, all old Sherlock Holmes covers that have a bit of potential. One of them shows Holmes gripping a cock in one hand, round the neck.

Also, I might (no, I mean, I AM going to) be doing nano tomorrow with [livejournal.com profile] emungere. We have a plan! Sort of.

Harlequins! I was trying to remember the US version of these. A lot of the UK ones have really dodgy titles and heroes who are total bastards.

Aww, thanks about Nano! I'm excited and kind of terrified about it.

Yes, in teh US they are going through a phase where they have horrific titles: "The Italian Billionaire's Secret Virgin Mistress" (that's one I made up but... "Mistress to the Merciless Millionaire" is a real title). D:

The heroes are in fact completely bastards, but I bet they'd make hysterical and awesome wallets.

Hurray for the wallets and for your NaNo plans!

Yes yes! The Mills and Boons are doing the same thing: 'Bedded for pleasure, married to be used as a baby machine'. They get really specific!

Walletise those dudes, now.

*_* Awesome! How do you make them? Is it super-hard? Are you selling them at Etsy or somewhere? Are you going to do more of them? Do they have multiple pockets inside? (I'm a big fan of this type of wallet, can you tell?)

One of them shows Holmes gripping a cock in one hand, round the neck.

Can't believe so many comments and no question so far about who's been spying on him and Watson? ;)

You sure it's not a badly-drawn goose, as one appears in The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle...

I know, right! Looking at it more closely, I see it's just the head of a cock. Or possibly a turkey. This is for the cover of 'His Last Bow' and for the life of me I can't remember a decapitated chicken in any of those stories.

:D I'm really pleased you like them! I plan to make lots more. I'm getting obsessed with finding the awesome cheesy romance titles.

I have an Etsy shop here, where they can be bought. I also do commissions privately or through the shop, depending on if I know the person or not.

They're relatively easy to make, as long as you have the much-prized teflon foot for your machine, otherwise sewing vinyl will just make you cry. I have a grabber foot that does just as well - it has a wee roller to grab slippery materials and feed it along the dogs. Once the vinyl is sewn to the cover, then it's a matter of making a lining - mine is a really simple pattern of two pockets, one each side, below. The hardest part is keeping everything straight and neat looking.

Then add a loop of elastic and a button for the closure (or a popper or velcro or whatever you want to use. I finally attach the cover to the lining using super strong permanent adhesive.

Thank you, yay! :D

I cut the vinyl to size then sew it on to the cover. I can only do this because I have a special foot for my machine which copes with slippery fabric. I tried it without and the vinyl just sticks in the machine.

Hoorah! Nano alarms me slightly, but I am feeling all determined. Are you still busy with your Weimar fic? Is it going to turn into a nano all by itself?

No NaNo for me this year! I'm still too wrecked to make a go of it. But the Weimar fic is going on apace - over 10K words, only another 3-4K to go. It's rather hilarious how much the characters are smoking - fag after fag gets consumed in just about every bit of the fic :-)

oh. i like the clock! The H.G. Wells one.
and i didnt notice now you have CCs and not just paypal.

i kind of like the pleasured in .... one. real amusing as a gift
got a price for it?

i am a bit worried about the shipping here.
how are you going to ship it to Manila?
especially if i decide i like the clock one.

Date: 2009-11-03 11:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com
Oh, hmmm. I think those credit card icons only mean that you can pay using credit cards through paypal. Otherwise there is the option of money orders. I don't know if that suits you?

Shipping to Manila would take about 5 days. I'd send it airmail, otherwise we're looking at a 1-2 month delivery time.

I haven't actually made the pleasured wallet yet, but it would be 13 uk pounds.

Thanks for you interest! :)
