Not entirely lame! In fact, it's pretty good. I'll defintely watch the next episode.

This is a new BBC show about a vampire, a ghost and a werewolf who share a house together. The vampire is angsty (and hot) and struggling to not bite people. The werewolf is incredibly socially inept (and cute) and deeply creepy in its werewolf form. The ghost is clinging to the house she lived in with her boyfriend and is really a bit lost and also rather adorable.

Slightly clunky, but I really enjoyed the way the script knitted these fantastical beings into real life - the werewolf and the vampire work as hospital orderlies. The ghost's boyfriend is also the landlord, and who is now going out with a far less pretty girl who works in a tanning salon and who is therefore orange. The boss of the vampires is in disguise as a police officer.

Also, it's not afraid to show how messy their existances can get. I like it.

Yep, I liked it much more than expected - I think it was a bit mis-sold. I was expecting a flist full of it this morning, but the usual sci-fi suspects don't seem to have seen it.

I loved this show - and will be reviewing later! First episodes often suffer from info-dump but you did get a real feel for the 'internal' workings of the characters. *g* Plus everyone is very pretty. I bet the first slash is already being written...

Well, I am waiting for Merlin to show up (it is supposedly on some network later this year) and hopefully this will show up on BBCA also.

I really liked it too. You're not kidding about the hot vampire. ;)

It has promise! And the things I liked about it were the things British TV is good at (interesting, surprising characters, spine-chilling elements paired with humour, Quirk) which is always a good sign - as opposed to Demons which seemed to me to be Brit-TV trying to be US-TV and failing horribly.

I don't know if you check this comm already, but dramatic_eps has a lot of current stuff to download, from the US and UK. You need to join the comm to download, but it's always really reliable and someone might've uploaded Being Human. It's where I get my spn :)

There's about two of the original cast, but it is still good and there are some interesting things coming out.

I didn't see that one, so I can't compare. But I am pretty impressed with this. I think mostly because most UK TV shows that have dealt with supernatural things recently have been quite badly done. As scribblemoose says, this one plays to the strengths of British TV-- lots of quirk and humour-- rather than going for fancy special effects.

Good point, and I think you're right. It's the humour and Quirk that makes it for me - a bit like Teachers but with more vampires. I didn't see Demons so I can't say, but nothing I heard about it made it sound any good at all.

I think the changes that were made have been for the better - New Annie, in particular, seems to have a better handle on the character. I love the way she interacts with George, in particular.

The first series episode actually picks up where the pilot left off - the story assumes the viewer has seen the pilot. You can get by without it but I found it helped, even with the cast changes.

Yes, info dump was a bit of a problem, but also just the flow of how and why these characters got together seemed a bit confused. But then I missed the pilot.

It's a lot of fun, but at the same time it really doesn't shy away from showing the grimness of their existences. I really liked that about it.
