Holy wow that was sexy. Utterly gorgeous. The atmosphere, all the loving descriptions, just gorgeous.
I love the idea that Nikola is so modern, so quick to embrace the latest human advancements, that "He was not unusual in any way". It's so very Hakkai, with how he constructed himself.
And of course the creepy touches, like Nikola leaving Thomas a note in his own blood, or "I'm only glad I caught you before you had scaled the wall. You had every intention of escaping from me," he said, and laughed for a little too long. and the ambiguity over Howard's death.
Then Nikola's second note, and Thomas's reactions, and the end, and I'm so very glad there's the promise of a sequel!
