Voice recognition in Vista!

I just found out today that Windows Vista has its own voice recognition engine, which is supposed to be quite good (well, or so I read inna blog). I'm going to do some exercise and then I'm going to settle down with my headset and see if I can teach it to swear.

From what I've heard about most users' reactions to Vista in general, I'd imagine swearing is something the base program's got a lot of experience with. *laughs*

Still, here's hoping it works well for you, and that unlike parrots trained in similar wise, it never chimes in at parties with loud and highly inappropriate commentary. XD

Oh the small pleasures of life. It understood 'fuck' no problem, but had problems with 'shit' and was totally lost with 'cunt'.

Reminds me of a laugh early on Diana Wynne Jones' excellent The Homeward Bounders, where young Jamie tests out Their superior technology by calling the recording/printing device he's using rude names: "and it wrote them all down, with exclamation marks after them."

Hehehe. Exclamation marks! It's funny, the program won't actually let me put the words 'exclamation mark' on the page. It just keeps putting ! every time I say it.

It works surprisingly well, I have to say. It knew how to spell Gojyo and Hakkai straight away, which makes me think that it's also using my custom Word Dictionary in some way to understand what I'm saying.
