Yesterday was good. I dyed my hair (it's sort of light auburn now, from dark blonde). Two new bras were bought in the M&S sale, for £5 and £7 each. I met with friend G in the evening and we had a good two hours talking about how to develop his novel. I drank two bottles of cider, mmm.

This morning I checked the enormous amount of frog spawn in the pond, spied on the frogs, wrote about 700 words of various things and perused the HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of prompts on [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest, some of which are just so tempting.

Now, right this minute, I'm going to get back on my exercise bike and begin cycling to Rivendell again, or possibly that should be from Chang'An to Houtou Castle?

I wish it was more auburn though, like the box indicated. These packets of hair colourant, they lie!!

There is so much frog spawn it is frightening.

Judging by the difference in the two journeys ... it'll probably e faster to Rivendell than to Houtou Castle! ^__^

And frog spawn! Hee be careful though, you might get slithery visitors in the summer! My uncle (who lived in Kent had an astonishing amount of frogspawn one summer and had to scare away a couple of snakes when spring/summer came along!

Mind you where he is, is pretty more rural than suburban. Sort of in between I would say.

Also BBC reports awful weather coming your way. Stay safe and warm ok!

*hugs and love*

and hooray! for hundreds and hundreds of words! ^__^

They always lie. I never have gotten red hair from a kit. I have gotten some aesthetically interesting/pleasing effects though.

My theory is you have to totally bleach your hair and then dye it to make it match the picture.

Yay on the frog spawn! I've just come back from a long walk along the Greenock Cut and it's bubbling with the stuff. But some dollops had missed the water and were lying in the grass, so Mr Kis (armed with a trusty dog poo bag) scooped it up and stuck it back in the water.

Meanwhile I was kind of surprised that frogs spawn so early. The mega-toad-shag in Rouken Glen park doesn't happen until the end of March. I guess frogs mate earlier?

...so I can hold you responsible for the bit where I ended up picking up a prompt, yes? Yes.
(At least it's one that I can plot out very, very easily. But I'm still holding you responsible. XD)

Hee, you should most definitely take Jeep's runty cousin Cycle to Houtou :D

Frog spawn means frog photos soon, yes?

Yes, I would definitely class this as a pleasing effect rather than an actual change. It's a lot more shiny and sort of glints in the light.

I don't think I'm brave enough to bleach my hair though. *is a hair colour wimp*

Hehe, okay. There are HUNDREDS so it's almost a crime not to write at least one. :D

The idea of frogs missing the water with the spawn is weirdly amusing, as is that of the humans pushing it back in!

I'm not sure, I think they laid spawn about the same time last year, although it does seem a bit early.

I just got rained and blown about everywhere on my bike! Uggh, horrible weather. Thanks *hugs*

I think I'd secretly like snakes to come though. Well, maybe just the once so we can nose at them. I used to have a pet grass snake called Tommy when I was 16 and he was fascinating, specially when he ate his goldfish the wrong way round and they got stuck.

well grass snakes are harmless and are pretty cute. Down where you are though adders are common too!

Oh and your poor snake. Goldfish (even the right way up) don't make good eating!

Take care you on your bike ok! ^__^

I've never had trouble getting intense red and auburn shades from even the lightest temporary hair colors, but my natural hair colour is a rather light blonde and my hair's very porous, so it's just about *made* for doing evil home chemistry experiments...currently I'm sporting a rather Kougaiji-ish violet-red, rather fetching even if I was expecting more of a blood-red from the pic on the package.

The permanent hairdye kits are supposed to lift up the natural color and open the hair shaft enough for the new color to take, but if your hair is very dark and/or dye-resistant, the peroxide in the usual single-process drugstore kits may not be strong enough to lift the natural color to the point where it's not affecting the new color on top of it.

Short of going for a double-process (pre-bleach, then using color toners), a friend who was going for bright reds from dye-resistant dark black-brown Asian hair has had good single-process results with a few of the brighter shades by Clairol Herbal Essences and L'Oreal Hi Color -- don't know if either of those are available in the UK, the former is a drugstore brand stateside while the latter is a high-lift formula meant for dark hair, sold in specialist beauty-supply shops.
