Hello 2008! A very happy new year to all. There were lots of fireworks last night and I have a hangover the size of which seems unfairly disproportionate to the amount of fizzy wine consumed. However, I did manage to spend some time reviewing my fiction output for 2007 and it is quite an enlightening activity, I must say.

Stories I wrote this year

January

Confluence - Saiyuki, Hakkai/Gojyo, a sequel to the prison AU Solitary.

February

Two short backstories to the Saiyuki/Batman AU - Hakkai and Sanzo, and Goku and Nat

Stripper!Gojyo part two - Saiyuki AU, Hakkai/Gojyo, written with [livejournal.com profile] emungere

Monday Morning - Antique Bakery, Ono and Tachibana, companion fic to Adrift.

Short companion fic to One Summer - Saiyuki AU, Hakkai/Gojyo

March

Love and Strife - Saiyuki, Hakkai/Gojyo, for the perversion challenge meme

The Sea - Saiyuki Gaiden, Tenpou/Kenren, 3360 words

April

Over the moon - Saiyuki, Hakkai/Gojyo, 5673 words

Birdsong - xxxHolic, Domeki/Watanuki, 1817 words

Burning - Saiyuki, Sanzo/Gojyo, 2340 words

Orders - Saiyuki Gaiden, Tenpou/Kenren,

Somnophilia - Off*Beat, Tory/Colin

May and June

Nothing posted, but I was working on three fairly long stories for [livejournal.com profile] springkink

July

Temple of Love - Saiyuki , Hakkai/Gojyo, 2543 words

The metonymy of gloom and horror, Saiyuki, Hakkai/Gojyo, AU, 4000 words

Mutability - Saiyuki, youkai Hakkai/Gojyo

The Fatal Cravat - Saiyuki, AU, Hakkai/Gojyo and written with [livejournal.com profile] emungere, 15,500 words

August

Foyr short responses to prompts, all Saiyuki and Saiyuki Gaiden: Goku, confidence and Sanzo, denial

Kenren/Gojyo

Tenpou/Kenren - entanglements

Gojyo/Hakkai - Gojyo being creepy

September

Untitled - Saiyuki, short sequel to Copper Red, Hakkai/Gojyo

October

Seven anonymous fics for the Saiyuki anony kink meme

November

Cupidity chapters 1- 20 with [livejournal.com profile] emungere

December

Cupidity chapter 21-27 with [livejournal.com profile] emungere, 60,000 words

Ono and Gojyo - Antique Bakery/Saiyuki for the dialogue meme

Kubota and Aziraphale - Wild Adapter/Good Omens for the dialogue meme:

Merry XXX-mas - Saiyuki, Hakkai/Gojyo, AU, 6939 words

Unfinished/unedited
Maid Hakkai - 15,500
High School Hakkai - 13,189
Sanzo's hairdresser fic - 6128
Janitor Hakkai (carried over from 2006) - 15,000
Kissing Mr Cho (begun in 2006) - 40k

My favorite story of this year: of just my own, it would be either Over the Moon because it was so satisfying to write. Of the ones I've written with [livejournal.com profile] emungere, Cupidity wins pretty much hands down because I love the complexity of that story. However, I also love The Fatal Cravat, because of the sheer exhilarating fun of the writing.

My best story this year: Cupidity, probably. Of just my own, I find it hard to judge. I like both Orders and The Sea, for some of the imagery I used. I like Over the Moon for its structure. I adore the Metonymy of Gloom and Horror because it's a ghost story.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I really loved writing the Metonymy of Gloom and Horror, but perhaps it wasn't as well liked as I wanted it to be.

Most fun story: that's hard, because I had a lot of fun writing in 2007. The Fatal Cravat and also Temple of Love.

Most sexy story: I don't know! I'd like to know what other people think about this? Of the things not finished and posted yet, it would ttly have to be the crossdressing maid Hakkai story.

Story with single sexiest moment: I am very fond of the morning after the night before sex that Julian and Patrick have in The Fatal Cravat. I also really like the moment Tenpou falls to his knees in Orders. Oh, and also the sex in chapter two of Cupidity.

Hardest story to write: Cupidity!! Hands down winner again. Actually, it was surprisingly smooth going for much of it, but there was one point about two-thirds in that was easily the hardest writing experience I have ever had. A lot rested on us deciding on the best path for the plot.

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story: some of the anonymeme kinks, mwahaha. Wow, some were really wrong, and also hot. I'd like to tidy them up and post them properly at some point.

I should confess to the anonymeme story I wrote. Or perhaps not, it's rather fun this way.

Happy new year!

I had missed a couple of stories (The Metonymy of Gloom and Horror, for one). Thanks for posting, so I can bookmark! You are very prolific. :)

I think my favorite out of all these was a tossup between The Temple of Love, and Mutability. I love the banter in The Temple of Love, and Mutability is just plain sexy.

Aww, thanks! Having this sort of information about what you liked best makes me feel ridiculously pleased, somehow.

...and I loved them all ^___^ !!! And now since my dirty lil' secret is out...I share with you my favourite RL boys in maid, nurse's, flight attendants and assorted outfits

Cosplay 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKdZKRl-jAc) and
Cosplay 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05p-cfpfRo4&feature=related)

I like the fact that the boys were quite visibly upset when they pulled the short straw of having to dress 'normally!' In the second clip. Although Ninomiya's comment about Ohno dressing up as a maidedit: I mean in a sailor girl's outfit! "sorry" being normal does make me wonder... ^_~ *hearts*

I hope you have a great start to the new year and I'm looking forward to reading new stuffs from you. How could I not???

Hahaha, they make good cosplayers, although I was a touch disappointed that the one who looked *really* like a girl was, in fact, a girl.

Awesome links, thank you. :D

Most sexy story - I'd actually vote for Stripper!Gojyo over Maid!Hakkai, because of the UST. Damn, I want more of that fic!

But which ones??? The suspense... it kills!

Thank you so much for this year end review. I really appreciate having all the links in one hand-dandy post!

Thank you for posting this!
I thought I read all your works but somehow I missed "The metonymy of gloom and horror".
(probably because I didn't read AU stories with different character names before.. but then your "The Fatal Cravat" changed everything! ^^;;;)

You know, what I like most about reading Saiyuki fanfictions is that there are so many possibilities for interpretation of characters, without losing touch of their original characteristics.
It seems like there are as many Sanzo, Goku, Hakkai and Gojyo as there are fanfic writers.
They are all still them and yet somehow all slightly different; it's so fascinating that I don't think I'll ever get tired of reading Saiyuki fanfics.
There always seems to be new character discoveries to be found.

And I like your version of Sanzo, Goku, Hakkai and Gojyo very much.
They are somewhat different from how I view them myself, (your version is quite darker and actually much more creepy.. ^^;;; it shocks me sometimes and then I realize you're probably right and it breaks my heart.. poor boys) but somehow I think your viewpoint is closer to that of Minekura Kazuya's.

Oh, my, look at me.. I'm babbling on in your journal! ^^;;
I just wanted to tell you that I always enjoy reading your fics(Thank you for sharing them with us!) and look forward to reading new ones in 2008.
Happy new year, Louise Lux!!

Mmm, I agree. Sanzo, Hakkai, Gojyo and Goku are all sort of heartbreaking in their own way, and each with a lot of darkness inside them. I think that's what attacts me so much to them. Not because I have any particular similarity to them in my life, but because the things that have happened to them are so extreme and yet they still find time to bicker and to love each other.

Happy new year to you, too. It's always a pleasure to get your comments and thoughts about Saiyuki and my stories! :D

Looking over this list makes me think how fortunate we are (we being the annonymous working public who log on every night looking for some good writing) that there are people like yourself out there willing to offer us such gifts for free. I don't know how you do it but am in awe that you're willing to keep on doing it, and thank you heartily for the pleasure you brought me this year. As for the hotness factor, I vote for Orders, the Sea and Over the Moon as the hottest. I was so bummed when they did the whole LJ lockout thing; I had just read Over the Moon and wanted to re-read it and *it was locked* ! I almost cried, then wrote you (as I'm sure many did) and you graciously un-locked. The story sticks in my mind for that reason...that it was so good and I was so worried I couldn't read it again.

Oh yeah, and Entanglements...and Temple of Love...can I add those to the hotness list too ?

Wow... I knew I worshipped your fic, but seeing the sheer amount of it tallied here just makes me admire you more. The mention of the new things hopefully to come soon is tantalizing as well - I hope we won't have to wait too long for them!

And for the record, I thought I ought to say that personally, I *loved* The Metonymy of Gloom and Horror. If I had to hazard a guess as to why it wasn't as warmly received as usual, it would be that it stops at a kiss and nothing more, but personally I didn't mind. To me, it just served to heighten the tension and UST, and made that single kiss just that much hotter. But forgive me, I ramble. Happy (belated) new year!

Date: 2008-01-12 03:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] louiselux.livejournal.com
No please, your rambling is welcomed! Also it is not rambling!! Sorry it has taken me a while to reply, also.

Yes, I hadn't thought of that but I think you might be right. People do like the porn. I'm pleased you liked it though, because I think that sometimes a kiss can be just as hot and overwhelming as a full sex scene and I kind of wanted it to have that effect.

I hope the new stories come out soon too. *prods brain*

Wow, 2007 was a damn fine year if for no other reason than all this marvelous writing! :D Thank you for posting the list--it's fun to see it all together (and to click through... do believe I'll be rereading all weekend XD♥).

I can't even name a favorite, I just loved each one so much. (Okay--special special love for Temple of Love and The Fatal Cravat, and that story about Gojyo being creepy (August) XD --and of course the further adventures in the Saiyuki/Batman, stripper!Gojyo, and Copper Red universes!)

I must say the "Unfinished/Unedited" ones have me terribly curious! Especially the one that made me squeak out loud when I read the reference title: "Maid Hakkai." ♥__♥

I keep going back to look at my little gallery of the art you've drawn for my stories and feeling so stupidly grateful. I just thought you should know that!!

Maid Hakkai is the somewhat porntastic story of Hakkai working in crossdressing Maid cafe and being very very dedicated to the lifestyle and to making his customers happy...
