Day 158 - runes

Ahem.

I impulse bought them from the British Museum shop, along with King Harald's Saga by Snori Sturluson. It's gripping and fast paced and so far I have got to part 34, where Harald and King Svein of Denmark are about to fight it out over who deserves Denmark more. In this part, I like that there is a court poet known as Thorleik the Handsome. He must've been very very handsome to be known for it.

I also bought Chronicles of the Vikings by RI Page, which I mostly picked because it has a chapter entitled 'the unheroic life' that comes straight after a chapter called 'the heroic life'.

Anyway! I have been practising with the runes (put hand in bag, extract rune, consult little book, feel baffled). Apparently, long distance rune-reading is quite acceptable. Please do feel free to ask them anything you like!! (Answers may not make sense, may contain nuts)

Teh runes seem to have a lot to say. You drew kano: opening, fire, torch. However, kano is reversed this time (back to front)

Generally, this is the rune of opening and renewed clarity, for dispelling the darkness that has been shrouding some part of your life. Reversed, expect a darkening of the light in some situation or relationship. A friendship may be dying, a partnership, marriage or some aspect of yourself that is no longer appropriate to the person you are becoming. This rune points to the death of a way of being that is no longer valid, and puts you on notice that failure to face up consciously to that would constitute a loss of opportunity.

It calls for giving up gladly the old and being prepared to live for a time empty.

As I say with many of these readings, hmmmm.

BUM. Well, I shall willfully apply the 'renewed clarity and dispelling darkness' bit to answer my actual question, because nyaaah. However, the actual answer with the reversed rune makes sense with my current relationship status. I say again, bum.
